And we all know that 1412 is a code to KID  8)

That Edogawa Ranpo (the other person Conan was named after) got his name from the transliterated name Edgar Allan Poe!

And Conan's name pronounced "Konnan" means distress in Japanese. Can anyone think of any other names in the anime that have distinct meanings?

I know Conan's voice actress was in episode 81-82, which is why she used her real name.

Eisuke's name comes from James Bond translated into Japanese. And Eisuke Kaito a mystery writer.

EDIT: Heiji's name comes from Zenigata Heiji, a fictional Edo period police detective and the famous ninja and samurai Hattori Hanzou. Haha, no wonder he has a bad temper and is quickly able to fight. LOL He's like named after a ninja.

Old thread dredge, but I was thinking about the origin of the Miyano names since as far as I know no one has ever linked them to any classic literature characters. I decided to run with the assumption that Gosho intended them for some sort of clue rather than a reference to a detective. I noticed the names followed the solfège. Mandatory disclaimer: search long enough and you can find patterns even where none are meant to exist.

DO: Atsushi --> Tsushi as in 地 meaning earth; soil; dirt --> Do as in earth (recall this used previously in a BO code)
RE: Elena --> le = re in Japanese
MI: Akemi
FA: Shiho --> literally fourth step: take Shi as four (四) and ho as the counter for steps (歩)
