Just in case I start to use German abbreviations (although you should now them anyway...^^):
T urm ("tower") =
R ook
S pringer ("jumper") = K
n ight
L äufer ("runner") =
B ishop
D ame ("lady") =
Q ueen
K önig ("king") =
K ing
(
B auer ("farmer") =
P awn)
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3

Mhh... seeming everything from the wrong side makes thinking more complicated. Guess I will flip the board for my moves.

2. Nc3 / Nf6

Don't do so! Because if I use yours again, the field names will change, strongly complicating the writing of the moves! You can see the result below...
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3 / Nf6
3. Lg5

How strange... the board was still normal when I flipped it. Looks like reopening it messes it up though.
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3 / Nf6
3. Lg5 / h6

I've noticed you like bishop-knight trades, Callid. Is it because you like knights better, or is it just to mess up the opponent's pawn structure?

The latter, and, in this case, it's theory (to be able to move e4).

You're writing d:e4? I had simply written e4:. There's only one pawn capable of that. And instead of e:f6 I had written ef6:.
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3 / Nf6
3. Lg5 / h6
4. Lf6: / e:f6
5. e4 / d:e4
6. Se4:

That is how I learned it. When capturing a piece you write the figure you are capturing with (or in case of a pawn it's line), follow with a ":" and then the square you end up on, taking that piece.
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3 / Nf6
3. Lg5 / h6
4. Lf6: / e:f6
5. e4 / d:e4
6. Se4: / Sc6

I learned that anything, be it the :, the + or even an # is put at the end of the "term".
1. d4 / d5
2. Nc3 / Nf6
3. Lg5 / h6
4. Lf6: / e:f6
5. e4 / d:e4
6. Se4: / Sc6
