I talked to people until I figured out that I had misunderstood the pay scale e-mail I'd gotten when I'd signed on for the job and will be making about a third what I had thought and planned for this semester.

It's not a dire situation, as it will (barely) cover my expenses, but it is pretty depressing. And as if I didn't feel stupid enough, my parents told the story to the entire birthday dinner gathering we were at, and all my parents' friends laughed at the stupid kid who thought maybe she'd have some money to spend on something besides gas and bills before July. I don't want to be a drama queen, because they didn't have any ill intentions, but I feel kind of sick to my stomach after that experience. :P
a guy I used to work with had a sorta similar experience, the company wanted to hire him but he said he could only work 30hours/week since he was in school and they were like "that's fine, you'll have a salary of $____ anyway" and he asked if they were 100% sure that's what he was gonna be paid because it seemed a bit high, and they assured him it was the case.

apparently though, by "that's what you're gonna be paid" they meant "that's what you would be getting paid if you were full time" so he was really only making 75% of the salary they told him, even after he tried to clarify with them multiple times whether or not that was the amount he was actually gonna be paid. :V

Attach one denying any sticker on the outside from the inside! :P
the mention of a bumper sticker gives me an excuse to mention a bad story from many years back. i was in 9th grade and my sister was in 7th grade and as she had done rather well, our parents got one of the "my child is a honor roll student at..." bumper stickers and stuck it on the back of the main family car. it was there for a few when something shocking happened- the bumper sticker was torn by a mysterious individual! all that you could see on it now was the animal that was our school logo- the "my child is an honor student at..." part was removed! i was immediately signalled out as the force behind this malicious action, as i had not gotten such a bumper sticker myself, so clearly i had been driven by jealousy to tear off the written part. "lying about it only things worse," "let's not walk around the problem here," "well, who else would do it?" and various other remarks were directed my way. for the next couple weeks i was treated meanly, until my sister revealed the shocking truth- that she had torn the bumper sticker, because she disliked being the center of attention.

it did have a positive effect, namely that we had significantly better relations afterwards.

Image (for those who aren't familiar with the concept, this is a good example, though the color scheme for our school wasn't as obnoxious).

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

.... ... ... T__T
I went to the store to buy band-aids and the first thing I do is trip on absolutely nothing at all DX Of course I had to have bad luck, scratch my knee, my elbow and my hand (which got sand and such in the wound), I went to the store, having problems like hell since I were bleeding rather much, and all the places I had scratched hurt like hell DX And then I bought band-aids which you have to cut with scissors so I couldn't treat my wounds until I got home :'(
And now they hurt like hell D: I can barely move without dying of pain T__T And the wound on the elbow looks really disgusting :|

I doubt that even work. Not to mention that if someone is ill-mannered enough to put a racist bumper sticker on our car twice in the same parking lot then it wouldn't surprise me if they busted in the back window to steal anything that oppose such a bumper sticker. Before you ask: yes the parking lot has security cameras but it didn't cover the area the car was parked in.

EDIT: Holy sh*t! We now know who likely put it on our car and it is not good news at all! It was likely a friend of my uncle's who is a total nutcase and is potentially very dangerous.
Ok, I've got a bit of an update on the bumper sticker problem. We filed an incident report at the store whose parking lot our car ended up having the racist bumper sticker stuck to it. The security officer at the store took what happened very seriously and contacted the local police stations. He found out from the actual police that there is a racist, anti-Obama quasi-grassroots movement that has been putting racist bumper stickers on people cars all over the city and possibly all over the county. Great, now we have people who seem to want to make Southerns look even more ignorant and bigoted than some people make them out to be.

got home at 2pm so that I could get a parking spot now that the place is doing cleaning that cuts down 1/3 of the lot spaces at any one time, yet I still only managed to basically get the last valid parking spot. Unfortunately, it's in the group of spots slated to start being cleaned at 6am tomorrow, meaning I have to leave here even earlier than I did today. :|
