a guy I used to work with had a sorta similar experience, the company wanted to hire him but he said he could only work 30hours/week since he was in school and they were like "that's fine, you'll have a salary of $____ anyway" and he asked if they were 100% sure that's what he was gonna be paid because it seemed a bit high, and they assured him it was the case.pofa wrote: My (first) paycheck that I got the other day was for about half the amount of money I thought I was supposed to be getting paid a month. It's not a dire situation, as it will (barely) cover my expenses, but it is pretty depressing. And as if I didn't feel stupid enough, my parents told the story to the entire birthday dinner gathering we were at, and all my parents' friends laughed at the stupid kid who thought maybe she'd have some money to spend on something besides gas and bills before July. I don't want to be a drama queen, because they didn't have any ill intentions, but I feel kind of sick to my stomach after that experience.
apparently though, by "that's what you're gonna be paid" they meant "that's what you would be getting paid if you were full time" so he was really only making 75% of the salary they told him, even after he tried to clarify with them multiple times whether or not that was the amount he was actually gonna be paid. :V
