What's on your mind?

If you have some randomness to share that you can't post elsewhere, this is the place to do it.

* hugs everyone dealing with depression*
One of the most important things to deal with depression, if not the most important thing, is to have someone who is understanding you and supporting you from your family, people who you are living with, not only professionals whose job is to listen to you and try to say some thing helpful.
Here is a couple of examples of the worse conversations with my mother in law during a depression attack:
1-kholoud, stop eating sweets and chocolate, you should be taking care of yourself and watch what you eat :|
2-Kholoud, get your self together and stop moaning, there is a house and children to take care of, have control of your self and get on with your house work, you are always behind :-X

The above conversation sounds good and reasonable, but when your feeling low and you have a depression attack it is not helpful at all.
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

That's awful. a friend of mine IRL who deals with depression and anorexia has similar problems with her parents. She showed us pictures of her during high school once and they were genuinely terrifying. She actually looked like a skeleton. Now she's got a handle on it and she's actually kinda chubby, but whenever she sees her parents they're like "oh, dear, you've put on weight... don't you think you should go on a diet?"

Which seems like a normal concern for parents to express, but is a REALLY REALLY bad thing to say to a recovering anorexic. So she's chubby now. That's not a bad thing. It's not like she's seriously overweight or obese or remotely at a weight that threatens her health. Her boyfriend prefers her at her current weight because he doesn't have to worry about her collapsing as much as she did when she was skeletal. She's perfectly content at her current weight... until her parents get on her case about it.

The problem is that her parents don't believe that depression or anorexia are real things. People in general need to be much better educated about mental health, most of all so they don't inadvertently hurt friends or family with what they think aren't hurtful remarks.

(Can you tell this is a very important issue to me? XP Aside from how much worse my struggles with depression were in high school due to a lack of education for both me and the "counselors" who told me I had no reason to be depressed and was getting worked up over nothing, I have a lot of friends with various mental health issues that they struggle with. We seem to flock to Anime Society like moths to the flame.)

When we changed forums, apparently many of the Random polls got messy in some way.

Once I feel like it, I'll probably start to fix them and make a reference post with links to all the polls.

Is there anyone good with computer drawing that could help me to get an application picture for Illegibilus? I tried and I failed.

Never mind, I never have good night sleep. When I first come to upper secondary high school, as you touch case, she fallen category you talking about; I got little confused as one photo, young child look horribly alike but he did got weight check but still underweight, when he pose differently I turn incredulous. The train I mention, is where I accidentally saw she has less muscle so... when you mention I suddenly relate. High school is many years ago, the woman is wearing three S size, I know when I saw one when shopping

I find it unfortunate the writers only thought of raising the stakes around episode 9. While focusing on the family matters of different characters was okay, the lack of focus on the villains (who I'm pretty sure are supposed to represent the main conflict of this season... whatever this conflict is supposed to be) wasn't balanced well and hindered the season. While obviously this season has some themes it goes with, I have no clue what exactly was meant to be the main theme and big arc.

Okay episode overall, but it loses points on the fact that Obnoxious-Kid-Kai is still alive.

Also I kinda wonder if there will be an actual "change" this season (to justify the title). Besides the Airbenders (which is a very superficial change) nothing has really changed as of yet.

I think that's the thing that's been getting me. The villains are interesting, but we still don't know jack shit about them. We don't know a thing about why they want to kidnap the Avatar or what they hope to achieve by it, or why they want to kill world leaders. Is P'Li related to Combustion Man and wants revenge for her grandfather's death or something? How can Gazan control lava? Why doesn't Ming-hua have arms? What is Zaheer's DEAL? Avatar villains have always been pretty clearly fleshed-out in their motivations--you had a pretty good idea of where Zuko, Azula, Zhao and Ozai were coming from from the get-go, but there was still a lot to be revealed in how they became the people that they were and how they developed as people. These guys it's still very... why?

I assume the change refers to the change in the world caused by the connection to the spirit world (which I feel like they could be doing more with) and the new airbenders.

I'm still enjoying this season because a lot of the characters and their interactions are still really good, but... it's still not reaching the very high bar set by its predecessor.

What they hope to achieve is pretty clear from Zaheer's philosophical mumbo jumbo salad from episode 9 (recognized some Marx in there. The rest I googled). They believe in pure Anarchy and think it's the only way to lead people to full freedom. Problem is that they are doing bad things in order to achieve their goal, so this conflict of hierarchy vs anarchy can't really come out that well, and the actual conflict we'll see (or already see) is a good vs evil conflict.
I think the biggest problem of this season is that it's following the season which had the highest stakes the show has had. It was pure light vs darkness and world destruction (not to say that I think the second season earned it that well but that's a different issue). So what's the deal this season? Politically charged villains, yay.
Still, 2 episodes more to go. While I doubt it will happen, something extreme might occur that will make this season look a little more meaningful.
I assume the change refers to the change in the world caused by the connection to the spirit world (which I feel like they could be doing more with) and the new airbenders.
That's my biggest gripe with the season. It added new stuff to its settings, and even showed us back at episode 1 that there is a very clear conflict with how the spirits mingle in the human world. Instead of doing stuff with these new settings, we get some humans who don't like the establishment.
Why is this the particular story that needs to be told?
