Quick update: I haven't had time to do basically anything involving this lately (or I just forgot about it, which I'm sorry for). But even though I'll start doing some things over the weekend I think, it'll probably still be a bit until I update this again. Either that or updates would be once a week instead (which doesn't work the best for LPs imo). This is because after this disaster, I really feel I should make these more in advance so that I can still update for a while even if something else stupid happens.

I will almost certainly make sure to have something by the end of next month though.

OK I am finally getting somewhere and hopefully I'll get a new LP started by the end of the month (that doesn't mean I don't have something recorded yet btw

)!

I do technically have new video content right now thanks to Mario Kart 8! Which is sadly the only way I can get footage from an actual console right now. So I'll just post a couple of the better highlights I've posted (there are a few more on my channel) until I can post a more legit update.

Ristar is a video game from 1995 created by Sega. It was a late Sega Genesis platformer that was sadly overshadowed by the arrival of the Sega Saturn (shockingly the Sega Saturn could overshadow something, so you know this game didn't do well). Despite being considered somewhat of a cult classic, Ristar has never gotten much attention from even hardcore gamers and to this day has had no real follow-up. At most it has been re-released a few times. I personally love the game and actually feel it is of comparable quality to the classic Sonic games. Despite playing through it several times in the past, let's see how much I can suck at the game!

This is not going to be a 100% Let's Play, though admittedly there's not a ton I could show to make it a 100% run. It is simply a playthrough of the game from beginning to end. I personally own it on the Wii's Virtual Console, but I have little choice but to play it on an emulator. Thankfully you'll almost not even notice.

When I decided to Let's Play, this was one of the first games I thought of to do. TBH, while most of my top games are pretty well known, I am super interested in showing off games very few people have played. The first Let's Player I watched did that a lot and I've always really liked when people do that. Ideally, I'd like to keep going back and forth between popular and not so popular titles.

I've seen/heard a couple of things about this game before, so it's interesting to finally see it in action o:

I like that it's got a neat mechanic that is simple enough to grasp but creative enough to expand on in multiple ways. Those are often the best games x:

My usual thought of how to make a platformer (beyond general "how to make a good game" ideas) is to have a single gimmick and see how much mileage you can get out of it.

I actually kinda like some water levels in some games. This is one of those games.

Parts 4-6 will be the peak of this LP, I'm fairly certain.

This game is super cute and looks like the best kind of platformer: simple but creative. The kind of thing you can pick up, pretty intuitively know how to play in ten seconds, and then spend ten days trying to figure out HOW TO BEAT THAT ONE GODDAMN LEVEL.

Plus Ristar is super cute. I want to huggle him.
