The only thing I'm waiting for right now for this pair is closure. It's what Gosho usually does but I really hate it when he leaves these kind of plot lines hanging. Until I've seen that, I don't think a lot of people who ships this would leave.

I wish just this ONE series I get my couple, then every other manga can go full gear and have boy and girl both being full 'moe' and pair them up for all I care about -

I think I understand your feelings about Conan x Ai because I feel the same way about childhood friend pairings, specifically Shinichi x Ran. Childhood friends always tend to lose in anime, if they didn't win at least in DC I would be depressed to the extreme. I always thought about them exactly like you think about Conan x Ai, wishing they would let a mass "childhood friend win" happen at least in this one manga/anime. I mean, even though we support different pairings, the feeling and desire for them to win is similar. So on the other hand I feel uncomfortable that in this case the happiness of one group of fans will be based on the sadness of the other group. There was a discussion in this thread before that they were hoping for an open ending: Shinichi returns to Ran but not without Shiho confessing her feelings for him... And maybe him blushing at her words. It's probably one of the few ways the author can do to please both ships without hurting the other.

It would be great, if Shiho would confess her feelings to Shinichi. His reaction would be something, I would look forward to. However, I cannot imagine Shiho saying 'I love you'. She would rather use different expression or she would say that she would always care for him.

Yeah, she isnot necessarily the forward type. However, she already has quite some experience in expresing her feelings for him in an ambigous manner. The scene itself could be something simple like conan repeating his question from back in desperate revival (Why do you do this for me) and her replying with something along the lines of: "Today I'm not kidding, Kudo". Still, I'd prefer such a confession to the plain confession, definitely suits her more

. I think Gosho don't want that Aicon relationship develops strong so recent chaps, we can't too much Aicon scenes

Haibara+Conan.
They share their position, and I think inteligent woman suits him better than Ran. Plus, Ran is often screaming at him, and generally mean to him, I wonder how he survived so far with her.
Finally, do we remember the beginning of the case in which Mitsuhiko was a director? Remember what Haibara told?

Can anyone recommend any good fanfic stories for this pairing? Like, give me your top 5 or something. Rarely do I see nowadays stories at FF as good as Eeveebeth Feyvu's even though it was incomplete.

I actually read Hikari-chan's works a few months ago. Though she's not my fave as writers go, she's written a lot of scenes that I would have loved to be canon.
Speaking of scenes you want to be canon, there's was a story I read a while back where the writer took his/her own interpretation of an AiCon confession scene. The two were stargazing, I think, and Conan was pointing out all these constellations for Ai, one by one, and explaining that each one had their own purpose in the sky, that each one was important. Once he finished saying this, Ai said something like, "You too. I think you're important, too." Then the little story ends with Conan being taken aback by her simple confession to him.

I was reading this thread and I learned that there's less and less Conan and Ai moments after ep 345 in the more recent chapters? Is this true? I hope not cause this is really depressing as a HUUUGE Conan/Ai fan. I wanna know what you guys think about this
Ive been a DC fan since i was 10, I am 21 now. I stopped watching 6 years ago but I recently re-watched everything until 345. And im loving all these CoAi moments, it would be difficult for me to explain how much I like them as a couple, but basically it's my dream for them to end up together haha.
Anyway I had high hopes that there would be at least a small chance of them ending up together (even if it's quite obvious that Ran is his main girl) for several reasons.
1. Gosho Aoyama : I had this idea that the reason why DC is taking so long is because it would take a long time in order to successfully develop their feelings for each other. (But apparently not according to the things ive read recently)
- I had this idea because I learned that Haibara is actually Gosho's favorite character to draw, and one of his favorite episodes is the "bus hijacking episode" (which is clearly one of the most touchig Conan/Ai moments). Then I thought it would make sense that he would like Haibara to be Conans main girl. But apparently not...
2. Fans : Even though Conan/Ai and Shinichi/Ran fans are almost just as equally match in terms of number. I actually think Conan/Ai fans are more "reasonable and passionate". I don't know the exact words to use, but to me it seems like Conan/Ai fans have better way of expressing why they want this couple. It's like they really feel the chemistry and development between them, if you read comments and threads there are a million reaspns why fans want them together. Unlike Ran/Shinichi fans, to me their reasons are are somewhat shallow, and they dont seem to be as passionate, most of the time it's just "it started between Shinichi and Ran, it should end with them because they're cute together" and stuff like that.
I have a feeling that Aoyama wants fans to be pleased so he'll make a happy ending of Ran and Shinichi ending up together since it seems like more people want this couple. But if you think about it, most of these fans haven't watched a lot of episodes especially those with Haibara and Conan. I think it's only natural to like Shin/ran couple if you're just a casual watcher. I really hope Gosho considers this.
3. Conan himself : I never thought that they would show on the anime that Conan likes Haibara.
But even the smallest things gave me hopes. (i am not saying that Conan likes Haibara because of this, for me they are just merely hints that there's chance that Conan would be developed to her).
- In movie 4 when Haibara jokingly confessed to Conan, you would be able to see that Conan actually blushed.
It's a very small blush but you'll notice it if you watch closely.
- in episode 414 (i just saw this particular scene in youtube) Conan also blushed after Haibara joked about both of them hanging out late.
And of course, to my disappointment. Turns out both of these scenes aren't canon. If you guys know any other scene where Conan blushed cause of Haibara please let me know
Anyway, like other fans out there even if it's highly unlikely. Im still hoping.
