(SPOILERS) A new and dangerous theory concerning Sera and the mysterious girl!

Post by b-okiya »

A friend of mine has come up with a new, promising theory concerning Sera and the mystery girl.

As you know, Sera told people that she had been living in America a few years before she came to Japan. Accordingly, she should have taken some of their habits. Paradoxically, she appeared in a totally different way.

My friend has figured out many hidden clues that probably have very critical roles in directing the main plot for which we are waiting. These clues actually form a theory about Sera and that girl:

1- The first appearance of Sera (chapter 768): on the cover, Conan appears wearing jeans with a Britain's flag on the back.
2- In chapter 876, 3rd page, second panel: Sera is talking to Conan, throwing compliments about his soccer skills. The truth is that there is a mistake in the translation! The raw chapter reveals that she actually says "football" rather than "soccer". You know that soccer is almost exclusively used in American English, but this time, Sera uses "football" "フットボール" which is purely British! This is totally strange for someone who has presumably spent many years in America in the past. For sure, I asked the translator Fujiwara to check the raw and it appeared to be really missed. Hopefully, it'll get edited as soon as possible.
3- In chapter 872, 8th page: they're eating. Sera appears to be holding the knife with her right hand and the fork with the left. This fork etiquette is a European style rather than American (in the latter, they hold the fork with the right hand when the food is brought up to the mouth). Also, Gosho seems to be exaggeratedly focusing on the style while letting Sonoko say "As expected from someone who lived in America". But the truth is that Sera's style is European (probably British).
4- Sera's men's sheepskin-leather short coat is a totally British style. This style has overly appeared to be focused on by Gosho. Check this:
http://www.icemooseshop.com/prohtml/Bri ... p-550.html
5- Some people told me also that the mysterious girl's collar is also a British style.

Now we come to the most important part. Gosho said that there're two mothers who are two sisters. You know that Haibara's mom has British origins. What if the previous clues really indicate that this young girl is Elena's sister who is also Sera's mom (so that Sera has picked all those British habits)? and her shrinkage is a result of some sort of practice with her sister?

I believe it's pretty safe to suggest so.

I hope everything is clear. Excuse me, I may not be able to discuss here in the coming days because of being overly busy. You are , of course, welcome to share your opinions here.

I was not aware it was different in America. O_o A British friend of mine confirmed that they use the European style.

Interesting theory! But why would she lie and say they lived in America?

This fork etiquette is new to me too. I am European myself and I've always been taught to use fork in the left hand and knife in the right. But whenever I don't necessary need the knife I swap the fork to my right hand.

About the reason why she told she was in America... Well, Shuichi is an FBI agent and Black seems to recognize her so maybe she first went there and then to UK. I bet everyone who sees har and connects her to Akai would automatically assume that FBI has been protecting her and the rest of the family thus think they were in America. So why not confirm those suspicions?

But I really hope that her mother and Elena are not related. I really, really do.

Interesting. I think it's pretty safe to assume the mysterious girl is Sera's shrunken mother, but I'm not sure what her being Elenas sister is supposed to change in the story and wouldn't that make Akai and Akemi cousins and therefore bloodrelated ?

I saw that too, but I thought it was a mistake on Goushou's part, as it's a mistake that many of my Japanese exchange student friends made too.

What? It's not like that in America? Maybe it's because my parents are from Portugal and they taught me to do it the European way, and I've just never noticed if anyone in my family ever did the latter.
Which could also be why she does it that way, if her mother is British then perhaps she learned it from her so even if she lived in America...

I'm not European at all, yet I do the style... what? I thought it was because I'm left-handed. And I'm more American than I am Chinese, but I'm not European.

I hold the knife in the right hand and my fork in the left, and I'm a 3rd generation American... Seems more practical to use your dominant hand to do the more difficult task of cutting to me. :-X

Well.. I think this should have a separate discussion. I'm sorry, I must focus on that mysterious girl for now XD
In addition, my friend to whom these theories belong may come and put it by himself this time, his name is (the new one) on Cbox.

About the eating etiquette thing… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fork_etiq ... ican_style

“In the American style, also called the zig-zag method or fork switching, the knife is initially held in the right hand and the fork in the left. Holding food to the plate with the fork tines-down, a single bite-sized piece is cut with the knife. The knife is then set down on the plate, the fork transferred from the left hand to the right hand, and the food is brought to the mouth for consumption.”

As in you don't know what a half-sister is or you don't know how they could be that? (I think that makes sense? :P)
