After having read the full translation of the most recent I have to say I had dismissed the idea that Akai would try to snipe the others because it would be too hard to hide and Conan wouldn't agree with it, but it seems they have something in mind to get rid of Amuro's guys. Sniping the tyres is possible, but doesn't thoroughly disable the people. But if Amuro's guys are in fact gotten rid of then only Amuro's word can be taken that Akai randomly appeared somewhere (and I'm leaning towards Amuro's guys not being BO though Conan being so sure of that would be odd. I mean, I guess the entire Scar Akai thing and Mystery Train backs it up, but still. But yeah, if they're non-BO Amuro can't use them as evidence for Akai being alive which means nothing can be done in terms of the BO as a whole thinking he's alive. How they would recognise Akai though... um, nevermind.) and Amuro's idea behind Conan and Akai = Okiya is apparently dismissed because "Okiya" is clearly not in disguise (can't find mike, and Akai appears elsewhere at the same time as the "Okiya" confrontation) or Yuusaku :V. That's the aim, though I don't see Amuro giving up that easily. He'll have a comeback, though given we're only three(?) files before 900 I'm wondering about the pacing of that. Regardless, Conan is confident enough of this that Kir hasn't been brought up yet so he thinks he can get away without compromising her, I think.

Sorry if I'm repeating anything. I just wanted to get my thoughts out before I caught up and saw what everyone else had to say.

EDIT: And yes, I agree with those that the News Flash is important, though I'm going to have a bit more of a think before I have some solid ideas for why that aren't just random speculation.

Wish he was black though. ...xP..infact, I'd LOVE him if he was black, or half-black, half-asian!!

If Amuro is really an asset from yet another intelligence agency, and due to the rivalry between them, I guess Akai's picture would be more than familiar to Amuro's partners so they could easily recognize him.

And btw, I really don't think Kir is in danger. I might copy out what I've said in the cbox for why, but I'm not sure how well I've explained it. Basically, Amuro figured out the theory and that Okiya was Akai in disguise and that Conan was behind it all, while the FBI were unaware. From his perspective all of this has now been individually disproven, and even if he figures out the current trick Conan is using the explanation for it is so implausible and Bourbon has shown himself as so obsessed with Akai that it's unlikely he would even be believed.

The issue with time seems really possible. Ran and Kogoro watching Macademy could've happened the night before the Bourbon-Subaru face-off.

The night of Bourbon and Vermouth's discussion in the car obviously happened after Camel let the Kusuda suicide slip. Bourbon also said that he only needed a day to find the disguised Akai, so his visit to the Kudo residence obviously happened 24 hours after this.

The next day, Haibara said to the DB that Conan caught a cold, but she admitted to herself that she doubted it since Conan and Prof. Agasa were "whispering a lot last night."

In the next panel, it was nighttime at the Mouri Agency. Ran was looking for Conan so they could watch the Macademy together. However, Kogoro said that he's having a sleepover at Prof. Agasa's.

If Bourbon and Vermouth's conversation took place at the same time Conan and Prof. Agasa were whispering (as a result of that day's case's consequence), it would be possible that Ran and Kogoro's side also happened at the same time. Think about it, if Conan was desperate enough, he'd definitely spend the night making a plan with his allies. Plus, he knew that time is essential since Bourbon is no fool. This could be the sleepover Kogoro was going on about. And in the Mouri side, Ran asked if Conan had returned from school. If the Mouri side happened at the same time Bourbon visited Subaru, the question wouldn't make sense since Conan spent the night at the Prof's.

LOL, I hope what I said helps or at least makes some sense.

Anyway, I'm happy that the current file still managed to surprise me, what with Akai appearing in the car with Jodie and Camel and all. It assured me that Gosho is still as surprising as ever.

I agree with your theory but I don’t think this part makes sense. Even if he slept at Agasa’s, he’d have to go to school, and why would he go back to Agasa’s after school? Unless I’ve completely misunderstood the issue…

Omg, someone actually had the energy to think this through with concept of time in mind!!!! Im impressed!!!! I agree with your idea, makes sooo much sense! That means your point is that yuusaku is okiya right? Honestly, I think that's how it will turm out, but i wish yuusaku doesn't reveal himself from the okiya disguise....that would, as I've mentioned before, contradict conan's words to yuusaku in the beginning of the serie!!

you misunderstood, ran asked her father if conan returned from school the same night that amuro said he will need 24 hours until he can find akai,...which means conan was with agasa that same night whispering to agasa and that was also the night of the macademy awards. The next day haibara told the kids conan was "sick" when he in reality was preparing himself for the showdown that happened later that day during night time!
In other words, what @Eternally conanized is saying is that they recorded the macademy awards that happened live the day before the showdown(could be because yuusaku(disguised as okiya) really wanted to see it, or that they wanted to convince amuro for that moment that yuusaku is in the US).
