I liked the random polls too :3 Would be great if it's back. Something like random poll of the week would already satisfy my random poll addiction :3

Re: Slider Talks to the DCTP Community
I like both Kleene's and Kor's ideas very much! though I won't be able to participate in the contests because drawing and me do not bond well I miss CC's podcasts very much (is he still making them?), and it would be great to have one just for the forum. I would be willing to be a guest too, if that's okay.
Sad to say, I don't have any ideas, though I will take the chance and apoligze for my activity on here, and that I'll try to be more active for now on!

Re: Slider Talks to the DCTP Community
Random forum game idea in the form of a simplified, easier-to-follow version of Mafia:
We play a game of what's essentially "Mole". We have whoever wants to participate sign up and end up with 15-20 people or whatever; one person runs the game, one person is randomly determined to be the mole and all discourse about finding the mole has to take place only in the topic (no PMs, etc). Unlike mafia, the game would have only two roles: Mole and Detective (official titles TBD, just using these to give a better sense of what I mean). The roles are determined randomly at the start of the game. The mole's goal is to kill the detective while the detective's is to have the mole captured by the community in the vote that occurs at the end of each phase.
To make things more interesting, let's say there are 20 players. Each player, whether they have one of the special roles or not, is given a list at the start of the game. This list is of 7 or so random people, and are told that somewhere among those 7 is either the mole or detective. That way, as the game continues, survivors will be able to locate either the enemy or their most reliable ally and decide how to proceed. (A discussion to be had, should this game go forward, is whether or not people should be allowed to share their lists in the topic. There are pros and cons both ways.)
Of course, everyone votes at the end of the phase to try to single out the mole. If they fail, the game continues. If the mole survives a vote, they can then execute someone if they choose. If the detective survives, they can single out someone if they choose and get 100% confirmation whether or not a certain person is the mole (only catch being they cannot reveal their results directly in the topic or elsewhere, instead having to sway the vote in creative ways to change public opinion).
The mole's goal is to eliminate the detective, meaning a game could go on for ten phases or could end quickly. If the detective dies, the mole will then win the game if they are not captured by the town vote within two phases afterward. The population and detective both win if the mole is captured at any point. Of course, if the detective role dies, everyone is informed that this is the case.
The advantage this game offers over the normal Mafia is that it is easy to follow for newcomers and has only a few bullet points as rules. Additionally, the games don't require very much of a time investment, since all information about a current game is located within the topic's posts from other players. Because there are only two very simple roles and everyone else has a very clear goal, there isn't as much room for confusion.
So, that's one idea if you guys want to go with it. Because it's less time-intensive and new, I think it could create an interesting experience for folks.

Re: Slider Talks to the DCTP Community
Sometimes Kor nominates someone to make the topic if they have an idea, but for the most part Kor does it. There was one time I think when someone tried to make their own without permission, but I can't remember what happened after that ^^.shinichi'sapprentice wrote:has it always been Kor that constantly initiate the random polls?

And Espionage \o/

Re: Slider Talks to the DCTP Community
NOTICE!
Sign-ups are now open for the first round of Espionage, a simpler and less time-consuming yet still fun version of Mafia! The game is scheduled to begin on January 15th at 10:00 PM EST, and requires only one action per day thereafter. It should be fun, so please give it a look and consider joining for some espionagistic hype.
Also, Slider: We all want you to join, so, yeah.
