Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
A martini also has both gin and vermouth, not just the Baron cocktail.
My suspicion is that Anokata's name has appeared as a reference made either in the news or by some character in a different context. We know the BO has a lot of resources and is interested in computer programming and age-reversal / cell regeneration. We also know that if we knew the BO's real name that the name of the boss would be obvious, and that the boss is likely to be of an advanced age given Anokata's admiration of Sharon/Chris Vineyard as his/her favorite and the "Seven Children" ringtone.
Conan is a modern day Holmes just as Kaito Kid is a modern day recreation of Maurice LeBlanc's Arsene' Lupin. It's not impossible to believe Anokata is a modern day Moriarty with Gin as his Colonel Moran.

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
So, as I was re-reading the manga, I came across something that has me thinking... In volume 38 (which is around episode 310), after Conan's run-in with Gin and Vodka (when he was pretending to be Itakara and hid in a locker at a train station), he and Agasa were talking about Itakara's diary where he was talking about the woman he talked to on the phone. I originally thought that it was Vermouth, but then they saw in the diary that Itakara heard a cat meowing and the woman hung up. I'm pretty much Vermouth doesn't have a cat, and the only female DC character I can think of that owns a cat is Eri.... so it may be possible that she's a part of the organization, if not the big boss....
I dunno.... I thought it was interesting...

That woman was pretty much proven to be Vermouth in the Mystery Train. The gratuitous English and type of sayings the woman used made it clear it was Vermouth earlier than that. Eri doesn't use that style of speech.milk_hater wrote:So, as I was re-reading the manga, I came across something that has me thinking... There is also the fact that she doesn't have anything to offer to the BO..Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:That woman was pretty much proven to be Vermouth in the Mystery Train. We know Eri's life up until 10 years ago.. She's always been by Knogoro's side (childhood friend - wife)
My point is that we know all of Eri's skills, and none of them would be of use to the BO..
Her strongest point is being a great lawyer, but I can't think of a scenario where the BO would need a lawyer.
Like Vodka trying to probe his innocence in a courtroom.. He would probably get shot right in the middle of the face before he opens his mouth..
I know it is a very subjective argument, but I don't think that any person can just go and ask if they can be a part of the BO..
Even if the BO recruiting process is almost never mentioned (except for Atsushi Miyano if I remember correctly) I think you've got to have some kind of useful/needed skill for them to try and approach you..

To be fair lawyers are very useful, especially defense lawyers. "Mob Lawyers" are a real thing. It's true the Black Org tends to eliminate people before they get as far as arrest and court, but I could see the BO having a lawyer on staff for their general knowledge of the law (and thus how to subvert it) and resources lawyers have access too, and the ability to offer that lawyer's assistance to their clients who might be in trouble as a way of promoting good business connections or something like that.dcfan01 wrote: There is also the fact that she doesn't have anything to offer to the BO..

Fair enough.. we can't rule her out as BO, but she does have an "alibi" up until 10 years ago, which would prevent her from being the boss.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:To be fair lawyers are very useful, especially defense lawyers. Also, Eri won't give Gin permission to assassinate Mouri during the Kir arc. I would assume Gin told Anokata that they were about to assassinate Kogorou instead of the original target.dcfan01 wrote:

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
The boss might be Sherlock Holmes IMO because I'm seeing some parallel of some sort between the two.
I can't explain it though so just bear with me.
Vermont = Irene Adler
B.O. = Bakers street irregulars
yep I'm crazy.

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
I am sure that Renya Karasuma is the boss, or he had a link with him, there is too many hint in volume 30, the crow is the symbol of karasuma, his name karasu(crow)ma, nanatsu no ko talks about crows. So if the organisation name is "The Crow Association", conan will remember about this mysterious Renya karasuma, his disparition was never elucided by conan, this is an exception in the manga, and we didn't see the face of Karasuma, only a dark figure. He disapeared 50 years ago.
Haibara said something about a plan of the organisation wich begin fifty years ago.
Akemi told conan about crows.
The song nanatsu no ko is about crows.
Renya Karasuma didn't appears, he is only mentionned (gosho said that the boss was fully mentionned)
Gosho said that the name of the organisation reveal the identity of the boss. Karasu means crow, so the name is "The Crow association" or something like that.

Sorry for my english level, I am not english.

There is a probability that Taii is the cat of the Itakura's diary. There is two appearance of Taii, and when Taii is here, amuro is here too, so maybe he is related to the BO or he is the cat of a BO member, maybe the Boss (ha ha).

You are overthinking.
And Gosho clearly said that Agasa is not the Boss. Conan has Agasa's number, which is not the Boss' number.

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
And the Boss, according to the number, is in Totori, Agasa is in beika.
And why Agasa didn't kill Haibara and protect her? Why he told vermouth to search Sherry if she is under his house?

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
I read about that theory some time ago, and I remember I did some research on the matter.. unfortunately, I didn't write it down, so now I had to do it all over again..Shinichi Edogawa wrote:I am sure that Renya Karasuma is the boss, or he had a link with him, there is too many hint in volume 30, the crow is the symbol of karasuma, his name karasu(crow)ma, nanatsu no ko talks about crows. The problem lies in the difference between the manga and anime (ch 298-302 vs episode 219)
The thing is that the name "Karasuma Renya" isn't actually mentioned in the translated manga version.. instead, it is always referred as the "Crow Association". I think it is product of an error in the translation, and in this old cases it is always better to rely on the translation of the episodes..
According to episode 219, Karasuma died at the age of 99, about forty years ago. And there is no mention of the Crow Association.
That creates several problems for the theory.. (first of all, he is dead)
Now, if you take the manga translation as valid, then there is no person called Karasuma Renya, instead, there is the crow asociation, which just "gave away" a mansion built of PURE GOLD.. (1 Kg (2.2 lb) of gold = U$S40000)
Spoiler: Useless math

Re: Anokata theory: The boss may be...
In fact he was never mentionned in the English Version, but why he is mentionned ine the anime version? Maybe in the japanease version he is mentionned. But maybe this mysterious person is not the boss but he is related to him in a way or another, there is too many hints between the Crow Association and the BO.
