I'm not much of a Trekkie--never been able to get into it much--but I enjoyed the reboot and I'm looking forward to the new movie totally not just because of Benedict Cumberbatch

Fun fact; apparently Scotty is going to be born in the town that my parents live in in 2222. We get more tourists who know that than know that Mary Queen of Scots was born there...

I happen to enjoy Star Trek a lot, mainly because it's one of the few sci-fi series that could potentially occur within the next five hundred years. My favorite series by far is Voyager, with Enterprise as a close second (don't care much for ENT season 3, though :P ). The only problem with it being so realistic is that it will eventually outgrow itself. (After all, the cell phone was inspired by the communicator, and modern phones do WAY more than any of their com systems. And there's no ship-wide internet, just the 60s style computers.)

BTW totally looking forward to the movie! :D

I've never been a Star Trek/ Star Wars fan, really. I watch them when my scifi-crazed friends make me.
However, I'm definitely going to see Into the Darkness. Benedict Cumberbatch ftw \o/

Even i got into Star Trek cuz of the reboot. I was just sitting around one day with a flu when it came on television. I promptly recorded it and started going through all Star Trek merchandise available. Instant trekkie!! Which i why i hate it when people go to see Darkness Just due to Benedict Cumberbatch.

Some people are just drawn in because of a particular actor, and then find that they like it, they're not going to close their eyes when Benedict isn't on screen. I got interested like that back when Paul McGillion was in talk for Scotty, then I learned that Zachary Quinto was in it, and I liked the reboot.

Hey, I said I liked the reboot before, and it didn't have Benedict Cumberbatch in it. The previous movie was so good that I'd see this one even without Benedict in it. I just may be paying extra close attention when his lovely face is onscreen XD Chill. If it's a good movie, then the more people seeing it and encouraging further movies to exist, the better, right?

I know, but you quoted my post so it seemed like a direct reply. Sorry, miscommunication there. Also, *didn't.

I saw the trailer again today. It really does look like it's going to be visually epic. Also, Benedict Cumberbatch's voice is just.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh he should play more villains because he has the perfect deep, epic voice for it, srsly.

(Also I first noticed a clip where he jumps off of a ship and lands on another one and all I could think was "at least he didn't land on his head this time")

Yes. I practically had a nerdgasm when he said "No ship should go down without its captain."

I will try to get tickets for the first two days. I do NOT want to be spoiled. BDC practically ruined the Big IM3 twist for me.

I guess some people still prefer the original series over any sort of reboot. I know people who hate Next Generation for precisely that reason. (aka they couldn't be bothered to watch it b/c Shatner and Nimoy didn't star.) What a bunch of party poopers. :(

I want to point out that any Star Trek movie they release from now on will likely by many times better than Star Trek: Nemesis and that in itself will be enough reason to watch it.
