My opinion and can not back it up as this is another off the page thing.It goes back to what do the higher ups in Japan know about maybe the FBI being there and why. If they do know, then there might be a standing order for all things that might show FBI involvement to be turned over to those that do know. Again if this is so then whether or not the prints match become trivial, as those who got the phone will want to keep Akai being alive a secret, will certainly tell the lower downs their cover story. No vermouth is needed. And this is not so far fetched as international orgs. do work together and maybe keep those 'that do not need to know' in the dark about what is really happening.

I guess that the list would broaden considerably if we knew what Yuusaku knows since he always knows more than Shinichi. He just never shares the knowledge until the very end, that troll.

Hmmm, he could have heard Vermouth calling Calvados, though he was in the car so I'm not sure... he didn't see Calvados committing suicide, but it's possible he may have heard about it later from Jodie. But I think he definitely doesn't know about Chianti holding a grudge against Vermouth for Calvados's death.
