I equally like Hattori and Shinichi but I know a lot will answer Shinichi anyway so I'll go for Hattori. Why? well besides being as smart as shinichi is, he also has a lot of guts (also like shinichi). One thing that he has that Shinichi doesnt is he has learned martial arts that he can use to defend himself in case of personal attacks. Well as far as i know Shinichi doesn't (besides kicking) so correct me if my knowledge is wrong...

Heh, I was so tempted to vote for Mouri-kun, just because his antics always make me smile. Alas, the topic specifically asked for my favorite 'detective,' and he falls short a bit (or a lot) in that listing.

I always love it when he does, on rare occasions, manage to solve a case right. Though, it's often with more than a little help from Conan. Still, you gotta love that old drunk.

I'm a bit old fashioned, so I decided on the main character in the series, Conan/Shinichi.

I just wanna know, why make this topic in the "Off-topic" section? Shouldn't this go in the the "General Discussion" section?

Of course we know Conan's and Heiji's personalities and reasoning abilities are not to far off =D

So I always find it fun to see how Mouri solves a case (on the blue moon when he actually does get to solve it) since it really looks like to me the analysis of a person trained as a police detective. I think it was a recent manga where there was a panel where we got to see his reasoning process on paper (even though I don't think he technically solved the case)

So thumbs up for cool CAT detective Kogoro, who doesn't know the meaning of the word 'restraint' when it comes to attractive women (even when his wife is right beside him! =D)

Shinichi because of 2 reasons:

1- I think he is slightly better than Heiji
2- He's pretty good playing soccer which is the most popular sport here in Argentina =)

Arggg I had problems choosing between the brains (Shinichi) and the idiot (Mouri) so I chose Hattori (a smart guy who is also an idiot).

I personally like Shinichi/Conan's deductive skills the most. Heiji is nice to see deducting through some cases (or parts of some) but definitely cannot beat Shinichi's skill as a detective.

It not a choise and as such might not count, But Kudo's Dad is the best Detective. He alway seem to know the anwser before anyone else

It is obvious that Kudou Shinichi or Conan Edogawa has a better facility over facile perception and deductions of criminal cases, but, as a character, I believe that Mouri Kougori is a much more interesting man. All three of them are quite nice, but Mouri Kougori has definitely gotten a better opinion of mine over the years. Heiji Hattori isn't that bad as well.

Conan Edogawa / Shinichi Kudo

I would have voted for Hattori with his Osaka accent and his kendo skills, but when you've watched the majority of DC, Conan grows on you. He has so many cool moments and, basically, is awesome. But we need more Heiji scenes!
