Ran is the (young) representation of the typical japanese housewife, so it's not really surprising. I don't think you should apply your western feminist schemas on a japanese manga anyway.
There's this, and also the fact that Sonoko is clearly joking around to make Ran embarrassed. I mean, it wouldn't really be funny if Sonoko said "In the future when you've got an independent job of your own you won't need your father-in-law's money!" because the whole "an independent job of [Ran's] own" part would come out of nowhere and come out forced. Even if this were in a western comic, I personally would find it to just be a joke for the sake of embarrassment on Ran's part (though if it were western I know that many people would call it "anti-feminist" :/)

Basically, the butt of the joke is not Ran's supposed dependence on other people's funds in the future, but rather to poke fun at her and Shinichi's relationship. It's a sliding scale of comedy that's often overlooked for the sake of "good causes" when really: it's just a joke. Yeah, when things like anti-feminist or racist material are used as the butt of jokes that's not cool, but often if they're just at the side of a joke, it's just offhand comments that shouldn't really mean anything. ...Even when they are the butt of the joke, sometimes it works due to the format and the underlying message that: "No, we didn't really mean that."

It's like a joke that I know from a show:
*after a whole bunch of insults to races and countries that were followed by kind words under a "The more you know" section*
Last guy: Heh, yeah. Not like those lazy Canadians.
*background changes for the More you know segment*
Last guy: *looks around confused before finally looking at camera* What? ...Canada sucks.

In the case above, I laughed, since...well, it's a comedy show. Things like that aren't meant to really be taken seriously.

I guess in a tl;dr version: don't take it too seriously xD

It's obvious. Okiyas/Akais lover visited him, Gin! Finally there is evidence for their love! That's why there was the long hair. So Gin is wearing a wig! And seems to like lipstick too D:

I think it was Yukiko. She usually ties her hair too. Vermouth doesn't do that.

Rat tail combs are used for natural hair straightening. They are also used for styling and giving body, and would be good tools for pushing hair around just so to cover his cheekbones, for instance.
So Akai dyed his hair and isn't wearing a wig ?
Hmm I'd be a little disappointed if it was the case...

Anyway, AWESOME chap :P
I always thought he dyed/bleached his hair :V Because Okiyas hair is a bit red/orange. (like Haibaras)
It's said that japanese people that bleach their hair get a red/orange color first. At least that's what I read in a manga once. (Ever wondered why the bleach manga is called bleach? :P)

I have mine in my hair :P And when I go to sleep, I throw it at my desk somewhere (and have to search for it the next day sometimes XD)

What sonoci said.
Plus, I think it also a bit connected to the fact that her father, Kogoro, was kind of a bum after he left the police. So they where poor for quite a while D:
So even if Shinichi turns into a "bum" too, she doesn't have to worry? XD

He doesn't wash the dishes either, what a lazy guy =_= (And I don't think I want to know how long have the dishes been in the sink; I doubt that the mysterious woman, if there is one, just recently paid a visit, like yesterday or the day before...)
Stopwatch wrote: ...huh? I never roll up my sleeves to brush my teeth
Neither do I.
I don't either. It's just water. It'll dry. :-\

As for waking up late, maybe he only goes to sleep when Ai is in school and he can rely on Conan to keep her safe? XD
I think Okiya is brushing his teeth so he doesn't have to talk.
But I think it doesn't mean he just woke up. He could be just brushing his teeth after a meal.
Then again, he's supposed to be a student... so... :x

wait did the girls just leave a crime scene before the police showed up did they even call them? Are we positive Serra is a detective and not a snooping reporter?

Rolling up sleeves and lack of spit: I dunno about anyone else, but when I'm brushing my teeth, I don't roll up my sleeves until right before I spit.  Also, I don't spit throughout, just at the end.  If Okiya's the same, it would explain the neatness of the bathroom.
Neck: Just throwing this out there, but maybe it's because it's on the back of his neck/not in that narrow bit of skin we see?  As for the voice changer theory, is it possible when we see his mouth?  Conan holds his bowtie up to his mouth when he uses it, but Okiya talks normally, so I don't think he could be hiding a voice changer.  (hopefully that made sense).
Mystery woman: I'm kinda thinking Kir (process of elimination).  I can't figure why Yukiko would be there, Vermouth is highly unlikely, Jodie's and Satou's hair are too short.  Maybe Kir picked up some disguise techniques?  The only other option is if Okiya's either disguising himself as a girl or is a girl and disguising herself as a boy.  Not super likely at the moment...
Wig hair/comb: maybe he has another wig?

Personally when I'm at home and brushing my teeth I wear a T-shirt so I don't have any sleeves to roll up.

Maybe it's like two different treatments for a disease: though both have been proven to work, the doctor will try to determine which treatment is best for the patient's particular case. Conan needs to be able to imitate anyone with his bowtie when needed and hide the fact that he's the one speaking; Okiya needs to not sound like Akai whenever he talks to someone in his day-to-day life. Their needs are quite different, so a different scientific approach could be used in Okiya's voice changer compared to Conan's. :-\

I'm possibly harping a bit too much on the "lack of spit" in the wash-basin, but what explanation is there for this then? ,

Image

Notice the "*GATA*" sound that came from the door just before the girls opened it? I want to interpret it as the missing spit, but it could well be anything...  :-\

Don´t you think that Agasa´s friend who he was helping to move house (Kobayashi's Love´s case) could be related to the woman who had been in Kudo´s house? If that woman was Yukiko, it would have a lot of sense, or if the woman was Kinoshita Fusae It would have sense too.
