Just my opinion, but you are doing it again. My answer does solve your question, but is not what you are looking for. So after it is solved, you will need to explain why my answer can not work for your riddle, not why it is not what you are looking for. And I will stay out of answering it for now

I think the response to this is because your answer is simply not the solution.  Riddles like this start off with many possible answers, but only one right one.  By asking questions, you can slowly weed out all the wrong answers (that are possible given the setup), to get to the right one.  For example, if you asked "Was a meteor involved in this scenario?" I'm guessing Borealis would have said "No", thus making your answer incorrect.

Still waiting to find out if there are any martians.  ;)

A few more questions:
Did John die from lack of oxygen?
Did John freeze to death?
Will Jim die from lack of oxygen?
Will Jim freeze to death?
Does John kill himself to avoid a worse death?

you are likely and that is part of the problem because of possible cheating. It is like a game of twenty questions where there person being asked changes the item they are thinking of. His riddle might as well be like this it is big, what is it . A TRUE riddle should provide all necessary information so cheating is removed. Question would be allowed later of after a period of time the riddle remands unsolved. The way he is doing it opens up too much and IMO is no longer fair.

By the way I can guess the answers to your questions but to avoid "cheating" I will Pm you what I think there are.

At the beginning there could have been questions that I couldn't really answer mathematically corectly without leading you guys into a totally wrong direction (I think there was something with outher space) And there are some I couldn't really answer anyway so sorry if you are confused.

Well I wouldn't call on Mars "outer space" by fact they are on a Planet :) But still it's not on earth so it's okay to say that they are in space but not in OUTER space. If you know what I mean.

Did they leave their Spaceship ?

So their ship is gone for good.

Would John have died if they didn't left the spaceship? - Don't consider this.
Sure he would have died. The suffocated in any place on Mars without his Oxygentank or when his helmet plopped open.
