Mr C runs a dry cleaner. The state comes in and even though there are violations all over the place, it passes. Why?

The inspectors went looking for problems, but came up dry?
Mr. C had an iron-clad alibi?
The inspectors were hard pressed to find a problem?
The inspectors were looking for alcohol, but the cleaners was dry?
When they asked to see an example of his work, he showed them a law suit?
When the inspectors came, the place was spot-less?
When they pointed out the violations, Mr. C got steamed?
When they pointed out the violations, Mr. C tux some money in their pockets?

Sorry if some of these are falling flat, but I'm just clean out of ideas...   ;)

Ok it been three days.

It is a dry cleaner. If it was a normal dry cleaner, they would have been closed down, but they do thing very different.

Instead of using dryers, they hang the laundry on a line to air dry. And instead of washers, they use the old idea of beating them like some did once a time with rugs.

Thanks and the above fixed. As to eworm and the others, the hint i will give you is in this one I readly must be careful about answering questions  about the pie but I will likely give it away with this hint: think pun
