Spoiler:
Was Eva underwater when she heard the sound (it would have had to be very loud then)?

Spoiler:
1. If Eva wasn't underwater and yet didn't know about the other person, she must have not noticed the boat. Which means it was not a motorboat which would make noise. Is that right?
2. Did the sound of the alarm clock make Eva dive?
3. Did the sound of the alarm clock make Eva want to get out of the lake?
4. Did the sound of the alarm clock make Eva frightened?

Spoiler:
1. Did Eva notice the boat eventually?
2. Did the sound of the alarm clock sound like some animal?
3. Did the sound of the alarm clock sound like a storm coming?

5. Did Eva manage to get close to the lake's edge?
6. Did the other person notice Eva eventually (before her dying)?
7. Did the cause of Eva's death have anything to do with the fact that the other person was a fisherman?

Was the lake surrounded by a forest?
Did she get out of the lake before drowning?
Does the fact that she was upstream or downstream have anything to do with the riddle?
If so, was she upstream?
Did the alarm sound like anything we might have in our apartment?
Would the alarm cause such a reaction (like Eva's) if heard outside the water?

Spoiler:
Was Eva stupid? No, seriously. I think it matters.
Did the alarm sound like something that it would be logical to hear in the middle of a lake?

Did the alarm sound like something that it would be logical to hear in the middle of a lake? For Eva, yes. In general, would not be weird to hear.

I think you might have answered question 2 wrong. If I am right about what your machine is then it is like a radar

Clues - Used to indicate something ( like fish)?, Person is a fisherman, alarm sound = ( Fish finder)?

Also if right, most ( but not all ) are larger then at orange but smaller then a car
