Spoiler:
Yay, Hayate no Gotoku! Yay, Maria! One of the best manga comedy series if you ask me. And the mysterious plot? Awesome.
I don't know the answer to the riddle though. Desperately trying to find some time to think about the Blue Party...

You know, I can't see why it would be important that the dog was that person's dog...
late professor Dorny wrote:Maybe you can handle this together with Borner. I trust him. He stayed with me the last few months and knows everything he needs to know...
That's why the riddle seems unfair - Borner knows everything and we know nothing.

But my second deduction is in the making with some new ideas and new main suspect.

Kogorou wrote: Ok here we go.

A man was found dead in his swimming pool neatly floating around.
His wife came back from a weekend holiday she left on friday by car and the man was left behind.
There are three persons with the man.
The Butler.
The Maid.
And the gardner.

The Butler said: "I haven't seen the master in two day"
The Maid said: "I haven't seen my master since yesterday"
And the gardner said "Oh he was alive this morning"

Who killed the Man?
Spoiler:
Note two claim that have not seen him
but the Gardner said he saw him that day

First Possible is the Wife. It is possible she killed before she left.
But that would make the Gardner statement a lie and I see no reason for him to lie so that clears her

next is this
The Butler said: "I haven't seen the master in two day"

If his statement is false then
Again the Gardner statement is False So he is cleared

Next is this
The Maid said: "I haven't seen my master since yesterday"

If her statement is false then
Again the Gardner statement is False So she is cleared

now we come to the Gardner
And the gardner said "Oh he was alive this morning"

If he statement is true then
He was the last one to see him and if the other 2 were also telling the truth
then he be the one to kill him
BUT

Here is the real question:
First We make this idea a fact

The Butler said: "I haven't seen the master in two day"
This is the way butlers talk. So if he is telling the truth that why is it so?

This becomes a question on when was he killed
Friday then the Gardner is lying
same for Saturday and Sunday

Monday would mean all could be telling the truth and again it would be the Gardner

This is the point. Why would the Gardner lying about seeing him if he did not kill him?
Of Course Why would the Gardner say he saw him? If He joined the others then No one would be the last one to see him

I Still think it is the Gardner.

Eworm Since this is in the riddle I will point out two lines

who will take over after the professor retires,

and

She worked hard to get this far and was never known for being affected by brutal things.
Otherwise nobody could have done the job they were doing

that might answer your question

But I got a feeling that all guessers know the answer to the last question

Actually, sstimson, I'm thinking quite differently... But I already figured out a possible answer to the question "what does it matter it was that person's dog?", though it's different than yours it seems. I'm almost done with my second deduction, it's a matter of minutes now. Don't you go anywhere now, Kogorou.

Deduction 2 - sent. Even if it's wrong, I'm quite proud of it.
