Do the FBI know about Conan's true identity?

Post by rira »

I think they already know about Conan's true identity.
Because Conan doesn't look like a genious kid, but he looks like a skillfull detective.
Maybe FBI already investigate about Conan.
But why Jodie seems so innocent and still call him "cool kid", not "cool guy" just like what vermouth done?

I'm sure Gosho will reveal that in due time, i'm under the belief however, that the FBI is aware of both Haibara's and Conan's identitiy. But is it so uncommon for somone to call somone "cool Kid" if they are a 17 year old high school detective, or a student of highschool?

I'm sure they are aware of their identity. I think "Cool Kid" is probably just a fun little nickname Jodie gave to him, since Shinichi is in his child form.

Well i can only say that ,though Jodie is sure about Shinichi=Conan..but she is not sure, what caused him to "shrink".
As for FBI to know about Conan..Ya they might have put some thought into this case as we can clearly see Jodie in earlier cases keeping track on both Vermouth's and Conan's movement, and Jodie might have submitted reports of her deductions about them to James Black(not sure if she submitted reports about Conan, but she is sure about him being the"missing" high school detective).
"Cool Kid" was just a codename given to Conan by Jodie to let him know that she knows about him(and is ready to help-"FBI and CIA often use such code names like THE GREEN MAN "
Jodie cautiously used this name:
"Cool"=High School Student and
"Kid"=The form Shinichi is presently in..and she is sure Conan will understand this..we can see
that by the way he communicates with Jodie and vice versa..too mature for a small kid..
Hope that clears most of the doubts..

In book 42, chapter 9, page 6 Jodie says: "The woman in the picture that you were planning to kidnap and kill, and this near identical girl... Of course I'll request for her to be include in the witness protection program... But is she really that woman in the picture?" And then she also mentions Conan and previously the fact that Vermouth is the same person as her mother. So we can definitely assume that she is aware of Conan's identity and also that the reason for his shrinking has something to do with the BO. But I think she has not told this to everyone in the FBI. In book 49 not even Akai knows his identity (she says "he is a detective - my favourite detective"), although he might know it later.

How come "Cool" = High School Student? Is it some like trick with japanese words?

And isn't Jodie just using Vermouth's nickname for Conan? I remember the dart board had a picture of Conan with words 'Cool Kid', of course maybe my memory serves me wrong.

I don't think that they actually know but I believe that a few of them suspected that he was a bit more than meets the eye. I mean, why would they let him help with an FBI investigation? He looks like he's 7.

Jodie makes a comment about how Conan is living a double life when he checks his mobiles in the first Kir case so she definately seems to know.  (Plus, there is her first appearance where she goes "Shinichi is a cool guy...  Bye bye, cool kid".)  Judging by his reactions at the hospital, Akai doesn't seem to know.  But he'll probably work it out by the next big plot arc.

As for why the rest trust Conan?  Jodie apparently speaks highly of him and James Black does have some experience of Conan so he just goes along with it.  Akai is apparently amused enough to observe at first and then surprised enough by Conan's abilities to accept help on the plan.  By the point Camel comes in, he is in the plan and doesn't really feel the right question Akai.  The rest of the FBI are just background material so they don't get to have an opinion.
