Not surprised by this thread at all. I felt there was a subtext all along. For a series that can be compared with Scooby-Doo (universal appeal/mystery theme/hundreds of episodes) there is a strong sexual subtext throughout. Everybody likes SOMEBODY, but is unrequited, which means no sex, just tension.
As for Ran, the Tomboy, no one has mentioned her incredible judo skills yet. Interesting that she could take down any boy she meets. Very butch.
