A Series of Unfortunate Events (Spoilers Maybe Found Inside!)

Post by bluekaitou1412 »

Had seen the movie, had finished the book series.
Spoiler:
Still, many questions remained unanswered.

Curse you, Lemony Snicket (or Daniel Handler), for finishing the story without clarity.

Aww it's okay *hug*.  I had a feeling he would do something like this since the last 2-3 books.

I enjoy the series anyways ^_^

Still, I should have put spoiler alerts first.

Anyways, do you buy the books or read them online?

What chapter are you on now? I'd guess but there's the risk of spoilers.. And spoilers in ASOUE normally cost a lot. xDD

@bluek: Do you have a copy of The Beatrice Letters? I think there's a lot in there.

When kirite is done with the book, let's obsess over the sugar bowl! xDDDD
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

Kinda...
I can't explain... Maybe you should look it up on Wiki, but I'm afraid it'll spoil you of the good plot.
You see, it's not your ordinary story.

Yeah, the mystery is the most complex I've seen. Try it, it's really good. ^^d

@still.looking

WARNING: DO NOT READ THE SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISH THE BOOK OR HAVEN'T READ IT YET.
Spoiler:
What do you think is inside the sugar bowl?
One more thing, a sort of hint can be found at Beatrice Letters, it said: "Beatrice sank."
At the end of the book, the three of them set sail from the island using the boat named after their mother, Beatrice. Do you reckon that they do sunk? Or is it referring to something else?

Spoiler:
Generally depends on what it said, how it was said, and who said it. You know Lemony. xDD

As for the sugar bowl, it must have been horseradish or wasabi, but I think it was made just so the last few books (10-12, not so much 13) have a point to continue. Wikipedia thinks so too. xDD

Spoiler:
The book contains twelve punch-out letters (of the alphabet, as opposed to correspondence, although the ambiguity is intentional), and each is mentioned in different, interesting ways. An example is that the first letter is an E, juxtaposed against a card from Snicket to Beatrice, in which a map Snicket had drawn forms an E. The cardstock letters can appear to be anagrams of 'Beatrice Sank' and 'A Brae Snicket', as it has been said that Lemony Snicket lived in the hills for sometime.
Spoiler:
That's from Wiki, when I read the book I assumed that the anagram is "Beatrice Sank" but when I look it up at Wiki there seems to be another anagram. Never thought of that one, though.
Spoiler:
From Wiki: In Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography, it becomes apparent that it contains an object of great power or danger. After reading it from Wiki, I'm quite convinced that it is horseradish.
Spoiler:
The Sugar Bowl could also contain something of great power, perhaps even greater than the Medusoid Mycelium. This is because Dewey says that Count Olaf wouldn't dare use the Mycelium if he has the sugar bowl. This might imply that Dewey could use the contents to retaliate, either because it contains some sort of weapon or if it contains evidence that could be used to convict Olaf of a crime, prove Lemony Snicket's innocence or both.

Finally, it is altogether possible that the sugar bowl is merely a MacGuffin plot device, meaning that the contents of it are actually completely irrelevant, and that its function is simply to be a much sought-after object that motivates characters and drives the story along.
