End of Prep Phase

When we last left our heroes, they were boarding a bus to Mt. Flatten with twenty-nine people, each of whom had received a mysterious letter and a knife carrying a mysterious warning.  The letter and warning concerned a mine that they all seem to have inherited on the same day.

Spoiler:

Prof: It looks like all these people are headed to Mt. Flatten, too.
pofa: I noticed the same thing. Maybe they were also included in Uncle Dewlap’s will.
Prof: It’s a little weird that he had so many relatives.

Yet despite the fact that all the passengers were after the same prize, a spirit of friendly camaraderie pervaded the bus. A spectator looking inside the crowded bus would be heartwarmed by the friendly conversations started by the new acquaintances.

Parkur: …and that’s why we need to lynch xpon.

However, despite appearances all is not well. For before boarding the bus, each passenger unknowingly received a sinister gift from a sinister man. Their suitcases, tucked away on luggage racks or underneath seats, each contain a deadly bundle of explosives set to go off once the suitcases are opened.

Prof: It’s really warm in here. Hey pofa, reach up and pass me my suitcase. I’ve got an electric fan in there.
pofa: Why not open the window? I’m hot too.
Prof: I tried. They don’t open.
pofa: The windows don’t open? That’s weird. Hang on. *yells* Driver! Can we get some air back here?

But there was no answer. The other sweating passengers took up the request as well, but no matter how many times they called the driver showed no sign of hearing. Finally pofa walked down the aisle and shook the driver by the shoulder, only to make a horrifying discovery:

Yes, the bus full of passengers was being driven by a dummy with its hands fastened to the steering wheel. With no human hand to guide it, the bus full of explosives began speeding faster and faster toward…what? Find out next time on, “End of Night 1,â€
