Heh, seriously, the Spanish dub name changes are worse. I mean, seriously, Shinichi Kudo --> Bobby Jackson, and Ran Mouri --> Claudia Guzman? I'm glad the English name changes aren't THAT bad.

Yes, but that could just be a way of trying to keep the irony: Ai means LOVE but it's written with the kanji for SORROW/LONLINESS. Hailey means HERO but in reality, Ai is more of a VILLAIN. You see?

And seriously, Harley Hartwell was like wtf????? I mean Harley's a GIRL'S name, RIGHT??? That girl in Batman... y'know, Joker's pertner... AHHH HER NAME IS HARLEY!!! I CAN'T EVER WATCH BATMAN ANYMORE!!! Though I never watched it much before, I still think it's sooo crazy.

I agree with the Spanish ones...they're HORRIBLE. And Katrina Tolliver is a LOT worse than Katie Thompson.

And the girl in Batman. Yeah, her NICKNAME was Harley. Her FULL NAME was Harlequin or Harley Quinn (One of Dame Christie's detectives I think. Is that how it was spelled?) . Harley is mainly used as a boy's name though, even though it is unisex.

-Wataru Takagi -> Harry Wilder
-Nakamori Ginszo -> Mace Fuller (I cried...okay, okay, I didn't. But I DID tear up a little.)
-Kudou Yuusaku -> Booker Kudo
-Kudou Yukiko -> Vivian Kudo (No excuse...)
-Hattori Heizo -> Martin Hartwell ((shakes head)...)
-Shonen Tantei Dan -> Junior Detective League (Detective Boys must be too sexist or something...)
-Suzuki Sonoko -> Serena Sebastian (my god...)
-Kaitou Kid -> Phantom Thief Kid (I know that's actually the meaning, but it just sounds WRONG. I shudder to think of what they're going to do to 'Kuroba Kaito'...)

They did that to Paku Romi too. They changed her name to Romi Park in a lot of things. (At least that I saw...)

phantom theif KID is just about the only change i can deal with, i don't even want to know what they will do to kaito. when i saw the dubs for season 5 it became apparent...Case closed is BEYOND saving!

Jimmy Kudo - For Shinichi.. terrible! xD because Shinichi has a great meaning (one truth) they shouldnt change it D: so good that in the german Episodes they left every name like it is *_*

I personally think that most English-dub name changes in most anime are pretty much stupid. I think that says it all and says a lot.

Harry Wilder is the only one I thought was beyond terrible,
Plus his voice was a complete joke, it's one of the deepest ones on the show

After watching Season 5, the english dub of Detective Conan seems like a lost cause. They changed Kazuha's name to Kirsten Thomas. I hope Funimation doesn't even bother with a Season 6 if what is rumored for Haibara's english name is true.

Anita Hailey. Straight from Viz's manga. Though that's not even a guarantee, since Viz's manga didn't change Kazuha's name.

Ah, I see. So some of these name are from the manga. One thing I forgot to mention was that apparently Harley lives in Canada. Because the Ep. 118 is set in Alberta, not Osaka.

So they even moved the settings too!!! How can they justify all the japanese billboards or street layout as being "Canadian"!!?? I haven't seen any of the dubbed episodes, so does that mean "Jimmy" now lives in the US?

They don't refer to it as in Canada, but it's definitely not set in Japan if they going w/ real japanese cities(there is no Alberta in japan).
