I still believe she didn't change much, it was that we little by little got to know about her. Because, anything that you hate about her now, she probably had it from episode 1, you just didn't know about it. (It would help to know what you despise about her, unless you only hate her hair)

So, your ending would have been Ai dead, Conan loses all contact with the BO and he has no choice but to keep living like Conan? Not the ending I would like to see, but I see your point considering the series has been draged a lot

Well, it would have been realy hard to end it by that time since there are lots of loose ends at that point. We seriously need to start at least seeing a glimpse at the end of the DC tunnel.
