"Akai's return?" Arc Discussion and Poll

I created this thread with the hope that we can discuss this current arc: "Akai's mysterious appearance at the bank heist," consisting of chapters 677 through at least 679 and maybe more (hopefully!). There are lots of things to ponder over besides the obvious Okiya & "Akai"'s identity question. Which do you prefer: Akai x Akemi or Akai x Jodie? Why was "Akai" wandering around in the middle of downtown anyway? What sort of mystery is going to pop up in the next chapter? Is it a good thing that poor Haibara is stuck outside with the professor? Will Genta finally explode from eating too much? How is everyone going to survive until the next chapter is released? Discuss away!

Hahahah I just finished reading that chapter..I can't believe gosho brought shuu-kun back..I"m soo happy~
Now to discuss that person in the bank heist...To be honest I'm not sure since he just showed up but there was scars on his head which means shuu could have survived from the incindent...TAT

I really couldn't help it.... I had to vote for the squinting one, even if I don't think that XDDD

I believe that "Akai" may not really be Akai because he's smart. If he was supposed to be dead, he wouldn't parade around in case the organization saw him, even if he wanted to see Jodie (if he really did, that is). I think that Okiya MIGHT be the real Akai (and Conan knows) but they can't say anything about the "imposter" cause that would blow the real Akai's cover!

But that's just a fangirl idea. I really don't think Okiya is Akai. Everyone thinks that. And eveyone thought that Jodie was Vermouth. So I don't like following the crowd Gosho wouldn't be a very good mystery writter if he was predictable, now would he?

I'm a fan of Bourbon is Akai and Okiya is Akai theory so it makes sense that Akai was wandering downtown. If he got intel that the FBI would be around, what better chance to walk past a lone member who he knew was going to chase him..down the alley he headed. To me, it seemed like a trap that Black saved Jodie from and since his plan failed, Bourbon resorted to plan B, the heist. By leaking information to normal thugs about how to rob a bank, he created a scenario where he could have enough time to convince Jodie he's the real thing.

And why no mention of Haibara's sexy eyes? Forget Genta, you should be talking about more about Haibara's sexy eyes..which by the way got sexier in this volume.

That's impossible. You don't just think you'd like to rob a bank and do it immediately, you need a plan for that. Otherwise you can just walk in a police station and ask them to capture you because you want to rob a bank (although they probably will rather send you to an institution ...). But it's too much of a coincidence taht he suddenly turned up there in the bank after he walked into the alley. He probably followed her and tried to get as close as possible, so she would notice him again and try to contact him. The bank robbery is just a lucky fluke to him.

I didn't notice it, but maybe that's gonna play a major role in the story? Alongside with Genta's huge stomach and liver (yay duck liver! They won't starve anyway, so that's a relief. With this much emergency food always walking with them, one possible cause of death can be ruled out. Beat that, BO!), the rusted shutters, Akai's sexy eyes (Sexy eyes combo gooooooo!), the robot that will be made from the collected cellphones and bank machinery and Jodie's lipstick, we got the key elements for the BO's defeat! Expect the ending of the series next week!

This Akai seems a little suspicious. First, why would he's wandering around the town when he's supposed to be dead. Not to mention, if he do still alive, why did he didn't wear any make-up or something like that to cover his existence ? He should've known that BO have many spies around the town. . Well, it is a big organization after all.

But then, there's something that's been bugging me. The robbery is also strange. . . I don't really get it when the robber said something about 'bringing along the people you know'. Lol, it seems that there are more of it for now.

If the theory that this robbery is a plan of Akai, then he leaked the information is making sense. First, he leaked about the information of the bank, and then formulated a theory (time, date, place, etc) to rob the bank. The main problem is not the bank itself, the problem lies in Jody. How the hell that he can make her go into that place ?

My theory is that he can speculate that a 'certain someone' will be in the bank on that day. Remember that it's new year's eve ? Everyone got a payday because it's new year, and they will go to the bank to take the money. Looking at that, he's probably waiting for that certain someone to come to the bank. Of course, this is just a pure assumption.

The bystander on page 13 seems suspicious.. Every non-retarded person would NEVER scream when trying to grab someone who has a gun on his hand (and another sub-machine gun on the other guy..)

Not really, if you look at it from his prespective, it's a little more logical. . . . If you think that his a movie maniac or something. You know, in the movie the robbers tend not to hurt the hostage and a hero will sometimes show up. Lol, he's probably think that he's the hero =))

I can't find him suspicious for now though D: It'll be surprising if it turns out that he's the culprit xD;

With that burn on his face I would think it was Akai. Maybe he lost his memory, but then again, why would it have taken him so long to get out in public unless he's been in the hospital?

Maybe he worked out something with the CIA and after he escaped from the explosion, CIA angents recovered him when he was unconcious, they put him in the hospital somewhere (B.O. wouldn't think to look in hospitals for him?), and somehow he got out just now?

Akai can't be his full self if he's out in public atm, and he had a lost look on his face, so something must be up with him.

And I bet the one of the bank robbers will smell what Genta's doing. Then he'll freak out and do something stupid (like always) and the kids are going to do something stupid to help him and make things lots worse. Conan will be pissed off, save them, and Akai will jump into action, they'll both fix things, and Akai will be horribly confused at his reflexes to kick some ass and drama will ensue.

All the while Haibara and Agasa will call Megure, and they'll show up and do something.

Genta ends up exploding in the bathroom and that will be the end of that.

But he should be playing dead, so it's extremely unwise for the-real-Akai to show himself in public's eye (because Gin will kill Rena as a result), so there's a high possibility that "this Akai" is fake...

1) yap, akai hasn't died yet - think this is right...

2) well, maybe this is the point: you see, even if gin thinks akai is still alive, gin would think that akai  don't show up so "early" and in public, so the safest way for akai to return is an very easy and public way...

Thanks for saving me the time and I agree that the main problem is Jodie. It could be we don't have all the information yet but I don't think that Akai and Jodie ending in the same bank while it's getting rob is a coincidence.

They always do..they always do. I see it more like Conan hiding in the bathroom avoiding the search (be real stupid if the robbers don't check the bathrooms immediately) while figuring out the motive and a plan to stop them until one of the idiots decides to be a hero or that now is the perfect time to whine about something making Conan improvise on the spot. But somehow I think this file will make Akai and Conan have as little contact(if any) as possible unless it's going to end with Conan wondering who is in his house.
