In case you were wondering how I know, it's because I watch the who is online page for people replying to posts in topics I care about when I'm idle.

Yeah, I've noticed as well how he keeps entering the Stats page. Since I also check the Who's online page when I'm waiting for a specific reply.

Even if I left my computer on all night, it wouldn't work. The timer stops counting when you have been inactive for 15 minutes. You have to at least refresh the page in this 15 minutes gap if you don't want to lose a single second.
