I don't think Akai ever said that he worked alongside Gin in the anime, although he did say he had worked his way up to a codename and partner level.

I think his cover blew when he was about to work with gin.

Did anyone else notice that akai made some obvious and immature mistakes while snipping gin? he should have switch between windows makes it less likely of being hit and he mostly aimed at the head at that range with multiple targets if he aimed at the torso he could have hit a few more times and stopped them from escaping where they would be forced to suicide or be caught by the FBI.

If my understanding of your sentence is correct, Akai was on the roof of the building, not the interior, so there were no windows for him to switch between. Also at that range, switching windows would require someone to take the time to re-aim, increasing the length of time the targets would escape or fire back. If you meant to quickly kill or incapacitate multiple people from a long range, you wouldn't want to move even if you were getting fired upon. Also, Akai never meant to impede the Organization from escaping. Akai stated after the fact that he meant to let Gin and all his friends get away because he didn't want to start a gunfight in the middle of Tokyo because Akai was afraid if he incapacitated or killed someone, the others would all fire back and potentially hit innocent people. In the worst case scenario, the whole organization might retaliate against the FBI.

It's a decent enough theory. After all, if they were depending on his fingerprints compared to Conan's phone, that does leave two candidates; Akai and Rikumichi. After all, Conan has two phones.

Well, it's a theory in the same way evolution is. Not 100% sure but pretty damn close.
Also Conans reaction to ScarAkai makes much more sense that way, especially if Shuichi isn't disguised as Subaru but hiding somewhere.

We already knew at the end of 504 as Takagi compared the fingerprints. Kusuda was the only person besides Akai who take the Handy AND is dead. That proves that only he could it be.

According to the anime, Akai never even touched that mobile. The one he had touched was in Conan's LEFT pocket, the one Jodie brought to the police was in Conan's right pocket. So the body can't be Akai, unless the Anime messed up.
