Now that would be an awesome twist. That would make the Org. seem dangerous again and Conan a victim of a backfired risky plan rather than a total idiot. ETA: On the other hand, unless it's Vermouth, any Org. agent with reason to think that Haibara is Sherry has by now been given plenty of reason to think that Conan is the real detective allied with her, rather than think he is merely a lackey of the "real threat". I'd expect the Org. to start the cleanup operation rather quickly once they figured that Conan was the one who saved Sherry from Gin previously. Even if it is Vermouth, I'd expect Gin and the boss to be monitoring her closely with transmitters and recording devices planted on her.kagami wrote: Let's not forget what happened to Dr. Araide:

Re: Bourbon's Identity: Who is Bourbon!?
what about 6. Akai = Bourbon and Okia is unrelated to this (although I feel Conan and the FBI put an agent in his old house to watch Ai [ Okia is with the FBI ])Kitsune wrote: -- My first time actually writing a post *tsk*, my old days of lurking have passed xD--
So, technically, these are all the possibilities (I'm not sure if anyone listed this before):
1. Akai = Bourbon = Okia (maybe somehow Akai sneaked into the BO with Yukiko's makeup skills, for example)
2. Akai = Okia and Bourbon is unrelated to this
3. Okia = Bourbon, and Akai = dead/somewhere else, and Conan made a mistake. (who knows?)
4. Akai = dead/somewhere else, Okia = Okia and Bourbon is someone else.
5. Okia = someone else from the BO (maybe even the Big Boss? That might be too much, though), and Conan made a mistake.
Mix and match them how much you want... Did I miss any?
Now, about Kir:
1. Kir is in the plan, and put some blanks in the gun/ some other trick
2. Kir doesn't know anything about the plan, and Akai put something bullet proof under his hat (I'm not really sure if you can actually do that, though)/ some other trick
3. Kir killed Akai
Not to over quote, but once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.![]()

What else can we add? More information we know about the three characters individually, so we can compare them!Kitsune wrote: -- My first time actually writing a post *tsk*, my old days of lurking have passed xD--

1) Bourbon
- is very skilled at inspection and information gathering and has keen insight
- target is probably Sherry aka Shiho aka Haibara ('though I disagree if he/she's sent by Gin, who was more interested in detective Mouri (and the kid Conan?))
- should already be active for 51 chapters and counting ...
2) Okiya Subaru
Facts:
- knows a lot about Sherlock Holmes (he can tell to which case a quoted saying belongs, and can quote things himself)
- is very skilled at inspection and information gathering and has keen insight, a lot like Shinichi (they're equal to each other here; cfr. the paper plane case ch. 638 -> 640)
- knows morse code
- can defend himself pretty well, as well as receive Ran's kick nicely
- can do home cooking :p
- should know a bit about engineering, otherwise he wouldn't propose to help Agasa's research
- lived in an apartment in the neighbourhood of Agasa's house, lives in Shinichi's old house now at the invitation of Shinichi/conan himself (claiming a Holmes fan can't be a "bad guy", although the BO already used some Holmes related things too)
- "takes care" of Shinichi's house (hidden meaning alert! ch. 624 p. 16)
- he took the job upon himself to frequently water the plants in the garden at his former apartment
- "smells" like a member of the BO
- Conan acts overly friendly and trusting with him (which is why we should check whether he was like that with Araide too or not ... it could be that Conan just tries to deceive Okiya and doesn't want Shiho to worry.)
- is heavily distrusted by Haibara
- is being trusted by professor Agasa, they regularly contact each other
- Ran doesn't want to talk about about Shinichi with him for some reason (ch. 639 p. 6)
- looks like someone Ran knows
- either helped Conan with a case once, or was spying on Conan & co (ch. 637 p. 15; I prefer the first explanation, who else could replace the fuel with water?)
- drinks bourbon (the drinking of cocktails can be some kind of "modus operandi" within this part of the FBI to show they're looking for that certain cocktail-nicknamed guy/gal of the BO (Jodie wanted to drink sherry earlier too)
Possibilities:
- says that he's a fan of Sherlock Holmes and that he had all of the novels until the apartment burned down
- says that he plans to get a doctoral degree in engineering because he likes it
- says he goes driving with his car to change his mood
- says he calms down when he sees green/plants
- says his favourite colour is black, because it covers things in himself that he doesn't want to be known
- says he hates the colour black for exactly the same reason
- 'manipulated' Ran and Sonoko to go to the bathroom so he could send a message or whatever he was doing with his mobile phone (ch. 638 p. 13)
- probably figured out that highschool detective Shinichi doesn't trust him completely, unless he's so stupid to believe the "Kinichi" story Ran obviously made up (ch. 639 pp. 4-5). How could the owner of the house, Shinichi, be a normal high schooler when he takes all his clothes, albums etc. with him and erase every trail of him ever having lived in that house, when he decides to suddenly "disappear"?
3) Shuuhei Akai
- is a member of the FBI
- is very skilled at inspection and information gathering and has keen insight
- infiltrated the BO for some time
- is the arch enemy of the BO now
- met Ran two times before
- doesn't want to be seen (yet?) by Haibara/Shiho
- died in suspicious circumstances at the hands of Kir
- and a lot more, but boy, I really don't have the time to explore the manga starting from his first appearance ... I still got a thesis to finish you know ;_;

Re: Bourbon's Identity: Who is Bourbon!?
I know I am probably flogging a dead thread, but I read back over all the cases with akai and okiya and I noticed that both of them share the habit of always keeping their hands in their pockets whenever their hands are not occupied by something else. To be fair the other members of the black org seem to be in that habit as well, although Akai likes to keep his hands in his pockets even when leaning on something, Gin and Vodka often have their hands out because they lean on something and prop their elbows (when they are not busy lighting up). And totally off topic, but be sure to check out akai's expression in this image from the Panda Case, it cracks me up every time I see it.

Re: Bourbon's Identity: Who is Bourbon!?
Well, think...it usually takes dozens of episodes for a new plot twist to occur...why would they bring back Akai as Okiya so soon? I figure Okiya is Bourbon, plain and simple, and Akai is dead.

Best and most ridiculous plot i can think of:
Akai appears in front of Conan
Conan is like 'wtf aren't u Okiya in my house'
and a moment l8er Conan: 'oh crap'

Re: Bourbon's Identity: Who is Bourbon!?
I think Akai should show up claiming to be Kinichi. Or maybe another character named Kinichi should wander into the story (perhaps showing up around Haibara and making her nervous).

Although I firmly believe Akai IS Okiya, I so want to see it. Especially the OH CRAP! moment.Rellik wrote: Best and most ridiculous plot i can think of:

haha yeah I thought about that too. ^^Rellik wrote: Best and most ridiculous plot i can think of:

But I still firmly believe Okiya is Akai, and not Bourbon. Bourbon didn't sound like someone new in the organization, they wouldn't send a new guy to investigate an ex-member of the BO/find a potential dangerous person and investigate him (if he was sent by Gin to investigate Mouri). Although it would be nice to see Conan make some mistakes again, he's been too much of a "perfect detective" already. It's the flaws that make a person interesting on the emotional level, not the strengths. Unfortunately Gosho is trying too hard to make us suspicious of okiya, which leads me to believe he's not a bad guy.
