It could be because I'm Catholic or because I'm not a fan of sexual humor, but I find that more disturbing than funny.
I'd have to agree. It's making light of a very serious issue, so the joke is in bad taste IMHO.
Not to mention it disrespecting a lot of things related to religion. And I'm not very religious myself.
Very offensive IMO >:( And very disturbing
Disturbing/Disgusting, if that person tried to make a funny costume, well, FAIL!
Now that i've seen it i remembered of the prince harry of england, dressed up like hitler, boy, there's people on the world who have no sense at all =-P

Does a black guy making a black joke offend you?
Does an Asian guy making an Asian joke offend you?
Does a women making a Feminist joke offend you?
It's true, people tend to have some leeway when making jokes about their own societal group. However, this is not just about the catholic church. There's another group of people involved in this issue. So unless this man is from a group of sexually abused children, your argument doesn't work.

Pax please...
(lat. pax=peace; readers of the French/Belgian comic school might know what I'm referring to)
I think we can agree that this picture/costume/joke is a little bit ... well ... exaggerated (is this a term we can agree on?) and does not hit everyone's sense of humour. Perhaps it was meant to start a discussion or whatever, I don't know.
I can understand why people might laugh about it, although the picture will only rise a sad smile in my case. I do not consider it funny; it's just a critical picture (in more than one meaning). We all have different opinions about black humour, and there's no way we will convince someone to change his sense of humour through discussions.
"De gustibus non est disputandum."
Therefore I suggest to simply "forget" about the posts made before, ignore (or erase?) the namely picture and get back to topic!
two years ago in Purim (the jewish version of Halloween ) I saw in the street a guy in a perfect spiderman costume (like the one in the movies) and he just walked around like nothing is special (well, people wear costumes in that day, but still, the way he walked around was priceless)
I didn't wear any costumes since I finished elementary school...
