THere was a Mafia Round where I kept in contact with him. I addressed him as male everytime, but when he addressed me as female, I corrected him. Given that he never corrected me back, I believe he:
1) Is male, or
2) Doesn't care AT ALL about genders.

1) Is male, or
2) Doesn't care AT ALL about genders.

And some people might address someone as male because it is the standard approach in their mother language...

I was actually talking about First Impressions. As they start with "Someone" (jemand), they are always followed by the male pronoun in German, as "jemand" is followed by the default gender, male. Also, any noun that isn't explicitly feminine or neutral is male. So "Der Lehrer sagte, er wäre bald wieder da." (The teacher said he'd be back soon) is always right, no matter if the teacher is male or not. On the other hand, the specifically female form of teacher does exist (Lehrerin), which can only be followed by female prepositions. Basically, in German, once you've decided on a word, only the grammatical gender of the word matters, and not the actual gender of what you are talking about.
