First, ranger didn't explicitly confirm it, that's just a possible interpretation. And, after all, BOTH need to confirm. There's a difference between a pairing and a crush. Duh.

Well, when he asks slider's parents whether he can visit a Japanese love hotel together with him then it's pretty much beyond the crush stage.
