Move Contest Semifinals: The Fourteenth Target vs. Countdown

Post by dilbertschalter »

Last time, it looked like The Last Wizard of the Century was going to put up a good fight, but it ended up getting crushed by Captured in Her Eyes. This time, we have:

Movie 2: The Fourteenth Target

vs.

Movie 5: Countdown to Heaven

The thread that explains the contest

The bracket that shows how pairings are determined and which movies have been eliminated:

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

The Fourteenth Target has its problems (I wasn't a huge fan of the conceit that names the movie), but the character backstory stuff is too tailored for my tastes for me to vote against it here.

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

I am also quoting to say that Fourteenth Target is the one I voted for. It's probably my favorite as a mystery, no actually it's EASILY my favorite as a mystery. Or at least as the Conan formula put into movie form.

Plus i love KogorouxEri. Gosho needs to have a canonical case where he figures the case before Conan.

He figured out an important component of the case in 305-306 before Conan did, though as always he failed to comprehend the trick used by the murderer.
