DC Contest 2013: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital vs. Magician of the Silver Sky

Post by dilbertschalter »

Last time, The Phantom of Baker Street won by the closest margin so far (but it still wasn't very close). This time, we have what might be the first genuinely close faceoff:

Movie 7: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital

vs.

Movie 8: Magician of the Silver Sky

The thread that explains the contest

The bracket that shows how pairings are determined and which movies have been eliminated:

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Yay! Two movies I have watched! And recently(I mean only one or two months ago)! Mmm... I like both, and although I find the Kaito Kid one very exciting(when they try to land the plane) I loved Movie 7. So I voted for Crossroad in the Ancient Capital.

Crossroads remains one of my favourite movies to this day. I must have watched it half a dozen times by now XD

I only saw the first 1/4 of movie 7 but it was better than any of movie 8 so...

Movie 8 is weird. It felt like all 3 major parts of the movie were made by entirely different people.

I'd have to go with movie 7. I have to agree with slider here; movie 8 felt disconnected. Even the high KID factor couldn't change the fact that it felt like three separate movies.

Sorry Kaito. :( Both you and the small confession scene can't bring movie 8 to beat the action from Heiji in movie 7.

When even manga doesn't vote for the movie with KID in it, you know it's going to lose :P

I just remembered that other than the first 1/3 of the movie, the best part was how it establishes stuff that leads into the Ran and Kaito stuff in Movie 14 (which genuinely should have been the focus of that movie btw, as it's a phenomenal idea for a story).

I thought movie 7 was terrible, but it doesn't seem like I have too many allies there.

...seriously, why I am agreeing with you so much in this thread? Ever since it was briefly flirted with in the manga, I've wanted to see a broader story involving Ran mistaking Kaito and/or Kaitou Kid for Shinichi. Also, some acknowledgement that Aoko and Ran are basically twins would be interesting.

I liked both movies, the confession scene in 8 was the best thing in it, but 7 was over all better, adding Heiji's lovers look at the end  :P
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.
