Episode 869: Conan Disappears Over a Cliff (Part One)
-This intro...please don't be revealed to just be Mouri watching tv.
-HE JUST SHOT THE COP WITH A CROSSBOW
-Ok, this Opening. I wasn't expecting this type of music. It's quite good but my god. Someone just had some wacky editing ideas they were playing with, someone saw it and decided "we can get the whole OP animation done in a day with this!" This turning book effect could work somewhere...not here though! Still not as bad as Giri Giri though. Or Teardrops, which despite more effort, is still a middle finger to whatever artistic integrity remains.
-I did not expect a Zorro crossover. :V
-Honestly, I almost feel like it's actually an intentional reference. I mean, it clearly is regardless, but I mean with like...a point. Not as in purely a "ENGLISH WORDS ARE SUGOI" anime thing.
-ZORRO (ZORRO), AN AO PLOT DEVICE
ZORRO (ZORRO), LIKELY INTELLIGENT AS MICE
-Conan didn't actually hear Genta say eel. He just KNEW.
-HAHAHA CONAN ADMITS IT WAS OBVIOUS FOR GENTA
-"I'm inside a cave" Thank you, Conan, I never would've noticed had you not said that out loud to yourself.
-So, that cave had so little relevance that I'm certain it will, in fact, be relevant.
-I can't believe Conan's hyping dead!

Episode 870: Conan Disappears Over a Cliff (Part 2)
-Y'know, this Opening is honestly more interesting to watch than a good chunk of them. Just...not for good reasons.
-Oh wow, I am so sad that Conan is really dead. /monotone
-I like how even they have no reason to bother having Conan's reveal of being alive to be dramatic or interesting in any way!
-I think I would've preferred just starting the episode with how he survived tbh.
-Did Conan just imply he needs to kill Zorro before he kills him? The answer is yes, but the writers didn't realize.
-CROSSBOW VS. BEER
-I feel like this has to be one of the only AOs where Haibara also not actually being a child is relevant.
-This dramatic music does not fit the normal style of the OST. And honestly makes it seem more important than it is.
-Ok, that last minute twist was kinda cool.
Well this case fell off a cliff (HURHUR) in its 2nd half. It did recover a bit but there could not have been a less interesting thing they could've done then wasting our time on Conan supposedly dying. There is no one on this planet who possibly could've believed for even a second that they would have killed off Conan.

How is... In terms of personality? Not sure. Haven't seen this episode or the other he'd previously appeared in (Eps 348-349, Love Ghosts and World Heritage).

Episode 871: The Nobunaga 450 Case
-"Warring states girls" sounds like an all-girl j-rock group
-Y'know, some of this intro might've been interesting or clever had it not been LITERAL STILL PHOTOGRAPHS WITH NOTHING ELSE. I'll be honest, this might be worst than Teardrops. Teardrops was cringey and awful, but it at least had some focus on...being animated. This is just completely lazy. The fact that this has a more interesting song also makes it a waste.
-This is the type of episode where a lack of tl notes are possibly a bad thing.
-It's nice that the series remembered that Mitsuhiko has a personality or exists for literally any reason other than being part of the Detective Boys.
-I'll be honest, I've entirely forgotten about this character. Like literally, I do not remember him existing even after seeing him.
-Mighty Morphing Thieving Rangers
-This is an amazing news story
-OH NO, THE SHADOWMAN SQUAD
-YES, POST-IT NOTES WILL SAVE US FROM THE FIRE
-It's an abridged version of one of the early Okiya cases
-Hahahahahaha...you almost died in a fire. HILARIOUS!
That was a pretty good episode. Borderline like the last case, but different enough that it was not boring. Not the best pacing though, it simultaneously felt rushed and a bit slow.

It actually might've been better if they'd found a way to combine both versions—the crayon-drawn(?) part with Shinichi/Conan at the beginning and end (version #2), the stock footage/footage created for the previous OPs (version #1) would be running throughout, and perhaps would be re-arranged, and the new images (version #2) would be in the foreground, background, or even inside that rotating overlay (version #1).kkslider5552000 wrote:Episode 871: The Nobunaga 450 Case

Or.. maybe they should actually animated the parts with Shinichi/Conan, Shinichi and Ran; Shiho/Ai, Akemi and Shiho/Sherry; Masumi and the Akai family; Hiroshi, the DBs and Shinichi/Conan and Shiho/Ai; Heiji and Kazuha and Ran and Sonoko; Kogoro, the MPD and Hyoe; the FBI; Rei/Toru, Shuichi/Subaru and Shuichi; and Shinichi/Conan and the BO.

I dunno why you quoted the first part since for that one I was talking about the intro of the episode, not the Opening.

Episode 872: Conan and Heiji's Nue Legend (Roar Arc)
-Oh, I thought this was the Rum Arc. Guess instead it's the Roar Arc.
-Sonoko wanting Kaito Kid to disguise himself just to be near her but getting mad at a random assumption that Makoto would be cheating on her is the most Sonoko thing
-I'll be honest, if they keep changing the Opening animation to be lazy in different ways, I might grow to appreciate it, in some ironic, trolling way.
-I think Heiji's just angry in general today
-OH NO, IT IS ANOTHER SUPERNATURAL CASE, ISN'T IT? Is this all Heiji and Kazuha are good for now? I mean, I liked Spider Mansion and Demon Dog as much as anyone but cmon, this is getting way too predictable.
-Speaking of dog
-"I was planning to give him my answer for London. Oh well, I can wait 6 more years"
-Stuff like this makes it look like Ran is just flirting with Kazuha. I approve of this.
-Charles Abel looks like a badass
-I would've laughed if it had been "RUM"
-"AHHHH, JAPANESE CHARACTERS!" WTF is going on anymore?
-Suddenly, fire
-Well, that's not something you see every day.

This murder made me laugh, what a stupid ways in doing crime is this. I thought that it will be a stupid episode, and now It is really so stupid episode. I thought that the dog is the one who will be used as a nue. it is the same idea of the Inubushi Castle, The Ablazed Demon Dog. All of them are jusst a talking and then nothing came from these two episodes other thaan awful ways in doing crimes.
And to tell you the truth, if we asked the writer that this crime can be happen in real world, then he will say no it can't been happen at at all; because this crime is really came out of nature, out of nowhere. I am sure that the writer will not except anything from this strange crime

Episode 873: Conan and Heiji's Nue Legend (Scratch Arc)
-"Hey, you don't know me, but you should totally follow my idea as it will certainly be good for the area." "Oh wow, I have no reason to trust this person, I guess I have to do it now!"
-Hello, not Coca-Cola! It sure is convenient the full name of this product isn't shown! At best, I assume it's "Cola-Coca". Which would make sense for the name in Japan. :V
-"We don't even know their names. That sure is convenient for the mystery!"
-Heiji and Conan: Master Mind Readers
-Yokomizo
-I approve of the idea of summoning the police to battle a mythical creature
-I'm glad that the obvious idea that she killed him at that point was addressed
-Selfie Sticks being in Conan will never not be funny to me

Episode 874: Conan and Heiji's Nue Legend (Resolution Arc)
-"This doesn't feel romantic at all" Neither does the constant murders, to be fair
-"Heiji you...grew?" ...is that your first question? I think his casual appearance next to a supernatural creature surrounded by fire is a bit more surprising? Maybe?
-"It's an ordinary dog wearing a bear skin" Of course, a classic trick!
-I'm sad the Nue wasn't actually just Conan. That would've been great.
-I hope Gosho tried out this whole thing, fire and bear skin dog included
-"I've seen that on tv before" No Ran, that's Conan's line.
-I wonder how this romantic moment will be ruined-WHAT
...WHAT
...WAIT WHAT?!
-"OPERATION CAPTURE THE NUE" WHAT
-"The Self-Defense Force" pffft...ok...that's funny
-Ok, so this is the Momoji I've heard about. I was unsure if she was gonna show up since the movie is...I think about this? Or something? But the movie came out in Japan-I don't know.
The case itself wasn't bad exactly. But...it was just Demon Dog again. There were differences, but in terms of what you actually remember...it was basically just Demon Dog, without the weird prologue of a case. Ending was better than I expected. Honestly, this might be the rare series where a love triangle would be a breath of fresh air.
