I have been using hp for my last tuo computers but the quality has been decreasing so no hp anymore. Apple is also out since I don't want to learn whole new system and they are too expensive anyways. My mother has an Asus but I hate to write with it so I'm not sure about that one either...

My family's had some good experiences with Toshiba. I'd recommend it. Don't get an HP, because that brand is total crap.

Wow. Yesterday was my birthday (23) and coincidentally the last day of my year-long journey in a university's writing course (that costed me 420€ but I never missed a day and can use it to replace the points i'm missing from 3 failed swedish courses) and today was my last day at this bar I've been working at for a month to get alcohol serving pass and certificate or whatever it is. Also now I graduate from restaurant- catering school as a chef too finally at the end of the month. It's been a long 3 years. I have bad memories mostly. Couple of things to finish up and one strong alcohol test to pass and I truly feel like opening a new chapter in my book afterwards. I think I mean that literally too as I need to finish my second novel.

Problem is that I truly have no energy to try and find a summer job. I just can't be bothered right now.

My Asus is holding up, but it's a fairly cheap one so not sure how representative it is :V. My old laptop was a Toshiba which was okay but its battery died about five times over to the point that by the end it could only switch on and stay on when it was plugged in.

I'd honestly just say looking at lists on websites for "best low/mid/etc-range laptops" and then cross-reference between them, see if anything has what you're looking for, anything you're not willing to compromise on (keyboard? Battery? RAM?) and go from there.

Powerful, light weight, battery life.
My laptop is custom. So I can't help.

If you want to create something with a computer then laptops are garbage. I'm planning on buying a real computer (like from maingear, https://www.maingear.com/custom/desktop ... php#buynow ) and saving my laptop for trips or something. You can add alot to the compuers on the site but the prices can reach ridicilous sums).
