Well, I'd have some X-Files-esque questions... ;)

If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Episode 821: The Hidden Secret of Dongaraji Temple

-This case seems to be about someone's dad. I refuse to believe this is a coincidence.

-To be fair Conan, Kogoro's ideas aren't the strangest things that have actually happened in this series.

-HAIBARA AND KOGORO TEAM UP?! PLZ LET THIS HAPPEN, I WOULD BE SO HAPPY!!!

This case was fine. I will say, one of the most obvious ones for the most part.

Episode 822: The Suspects Are a Passionate Couple (Part 1)

-His face is scary, mommy. :(

-"the woman who betrayed the organization" ...Conan knows this I'm sure. Who do you need to point this out to, Haibara?

-I'm glad I saw the preview last time, or this would be a real let-down. :p

-"I don't think she's breathing" This line is officially the best thing Genta has ever done.

-So I would like to point out that the thing that unites the forces of Haibara Ai and Mouri Kogoro, two of the greatest anime characters of all time...is their stupid celebrity crushes. I unironically appreciate that level of dumb and lulz.

-1/3 in, this is already amazing

-"There's 5 suspects but you know only 3 actually count." is basically what Conan said.

This was really fun. I love Kogoro as usual and I especially love Haibara being so amusingly dumb about this. This is great and genuinely really funny. No one cares about the actual case though.

Episode 823: The Suspects Are a Passionate Couple (Part 2)

-Angry jealous Haibara is amazing XD

-I like that in the background of that one shot around the 1/3 mark Conan is whispering something to Haibara in the background. Conan doesn't frequently use actual significant stuff in the background (at least this way and with the characters).

-Kogoro trying to convince Megure that Yoko helped a criminal in a bizarre attempt to help her was not his brightest idea.

-Detective Haibara strikes again!

-Why did it show a generic picture of this dead guy before the credits?

The case was...whatever. I think it's just kinda so obvious that he was never sleeping there so it just made the whole thing seem obvious. But my god, the things used for that trick. Ok, this is kinda mad-libs worthy, even by Conan standards, who would think of this?

Haibara is great and adorable though. Great ending.

Gosho Aoyama. ;D

(Plus, it could actually be done. :P)

I found those episodes quiet... how can I say? Static. I mean there were a lot of scenes through a conversation, with only mouth movements of the character speaking and everyone else not moving a finger - like in the very beginning of the anime. It was more obvious it is drawn.
Usually they play with expression and look or little head motion. Maybe it's just me.

I just watched Episode 824, and … honestly don’t know what to say.

I’ll just hand it over to the true victim of the episode, who—thankfully—manages to break the fourth wall and addresses his writers:

I think that puts the episode in a nutshell. Even after so many anime originals, I’m still too irritated to add anything.

Or, no, there’s actually one positive aspect about this episode: I really liked how they made rich use of the massive music catalog and mixed compositions from almost all newer movies with tunes from the first years that hadn’t been played in ages. Generally, there has been a new version of The Bike’s Threat, Bank Transport Vehicle (Flashback) and Case Break wandering around since a few weeks that I like as a change to the otherwise mostly same tracks.

Luckily, the preview for the next episode looks much better. Though I guess that it probably can’t get any worse.

This was basically the 2016 version of episode 17 so I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the 'worst episode ever'.

Also, yes at the use of classic tracks.

Episode 824: The Detective Boys Get Out of the Rain

Normally I would have a list of things to say. But I'm not sure I do. It was just a fun, silly, Home Alone-y episode. With scenes that by Conan standards feel over-the-top. Very much reminded me of some of the really early DB cases (AO or otherwise). Plot twist towards the end was super unnecessary, but otherwise it was a fun time.

I'm guessing that the title of this thread updates every time a new episode is given English subtitles?

@Swagnarok: yeah. Crunchyroll releases the newest episode with English subtitles a week after it's streamed in Japan. So the newest subbed episode is 824.

Heh, I thought that there was a team of Japanese-speaking fans here who did the English subtitles.

Yes, that was true until a few years ago. DCTP was issued a "cease & desist" order by FUNimation and they complied so they stopped subbing and they took down all releases from this site.

There are still other fan-subbing groups that sub the movies and re-sub some old episodes that had bad subs but DCTP stopped subbing anime years ago.

But, nevertheless, Crunchyroll has officially bought the rights to sub the anime and stream it so they are the legal way to watch Conan.

Some time ago DCTP was also issued (around the time file 900 came out) a "cease & desist" by VIZ Media so they stopped scanlating the manga too.

So DCTP doesn't produce anything anymore by now.

I hope this clears things up.
