Detective Conan Movie 20: "The Darkest Nightmare" (2016)

I'm happy that I helped to contribute to that figure. I would like to see it again. I did see it Saturday, but have just been distracted by this new job. Actually, I should be working now and also have to go out. I plan on writing out some more later, though. I was just told of a task that needs to be done by 4:00 this afternoon. How bothersome.

I will say this, though for now...this movie, imo, was loads better than last year's. I also liked it better than the Raven Chaser, but I do have a question. Is this movie supposed to be canon in any way? I only wonder this because

Rum died when sacrificing herself, unless she miraculously got out of the truck somehow without anyone seeing, but I seriously doubt it as the vehicle was crushed and they were taking a covered up body away and the charm she received earlier was on the body.

You're talking about the woman with amnesia, right? According to all spoilers and storyline write-ups I've seen so far, that woman is not Rum (although she serves as a red herring/Rum suspect early in the movie), but an agent with the codename Curaçao, who indeed is non-canon (as is everything in this movie) and dies at the end.

>Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare claims its second-consecutive week atop the box office, and did so pretty easily despite competition from a major Disney release. The 20th installment in the popular franchise sold an excellent 522,023 admissions in its second weekend, bringing its two-week admissions above 1.9 million.

This is by far the biggest second weekend in the series (it's actually higher than all but two of its predecessor's opening weekends!), and it's now outpacing last year's film by a stunning 39%. If it continues along this path, it'll end up exceeding ¥6 billion ($55 million) with over 4.5 million admissions. Needless to say, far and away a new franchise record and potential Top 5 film of 2016.

This one is definitely an improvment from last year's Inferno Soundtrack which really only has the first track: Conan VS Dark KID that's worth listening to.
Too bad they had to put in all the happy tunes from the Aquarium to make the album unbalanced. It'll go from intense and ominous to suddenly happy go lucky!

I don't think any movie is mean to be canon - some people don't even watch them. You should be able to follow the essential of the anime just by catching up the main episodes. It's what I think Aoyama wants to do. Movies, even if sometimes there are key characters, are just a further as OVAs and non-canon episodes are. Canon episodes must be the basis.

@Christcc9: no, Japanese theaters don't show movies subbed in English as far as I know. It's not like Japanese are very good at English either. Anime DVDs and Blu-Rays don't include English subtitles either.
What they might do is show English-speaking movies with Japanese subtitles instead of a Japanese dub but that's another topic.

I’ve only listened to the new main theme featuring Tak Matsumoto, but liked it very much. Since you apparently heard all of the tracks: Is there a good new organization theme or something that comes close to it? 純黒のテーマ and Ｒｕｍ look promising. The music of The Raven Chaser has been used for seven years, it would be a good opportunity for an update.

The best Conan soundtracks have always been the suspense even the worst Conan movie Private Eye in the Distant Sea had some great suspenseful tracks (sadly there's nothing suspenseful about that movie)
Even after watching Sunflowers of Inferno a couple times none of the tracks stick except the Dark KID theme. I'm just here for the iconic themes like the classic Conan movies that we don't really have nowadays but everyone has there own taste. Inferno was a below average for me in the Conan films anyway, I'm surprised it even made it along with Lost Ship in the Sky to the top 10 Conan movies poll Japan did a couple months ago. (both movies are at the bottom list for me, they just don't do the KID material justice)

Highway chase seems like the overall theme (there are multiple variations)
Color of Memory is my favorite so far
Conan Dash! is the climax (you can find on youtube already)
but I can't tell the individual tracks since I found the entire album on a website that has the album in one video so can't tell from one track to another. I can only guess.

Right now I'm just listening to the soundtrack imagining the epic showdown I won't be able to see the movie till July 29th when it releases in Taiwan
