Met DC by chance then about 3 hours later it scared the sh*t out of me in Spring 2001 and I ran for my life.
But boredom made me come to it once again in Winter 2004.
And I fell for it. Ever since then. Though sometimes it still frightens me like the first time

But, of course!

“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

After catching up with the anime, now I feel quite tempted to catch up on the manga, seeing that the next few episodes are TV Originals (and I'm dying to get a taste of something plot-related).
Also, La PomPon's making me nostalgic with all the blast from the past.

Episode 799: The Detective Boys' Locked Room Mystery Battle
-I find myself increasingly confused by Genta. Like at times he seems way too big make sense to be in the same grade as the rest of them. Honestly, I almost wonder if he was held back. I mean he was the jerk of the group at the start and is now the dumb one. It would fit.
-Another pool!
-I did find it kinda funny that Conan pointed out Megure was joking and Ayumi entirely and immediately ignored the information he was saying.
-I also like the silly animations with Shadowman. They got funnier the longer they kept going.
-I was hoping after it showed everyone running it would be followed up by people running in anime openings.
Like, I feel like some people are hating this. I'm really not. I was expecting AO Hell like we had at times in the past. Honestly though, most of the recent AOs have had something to make them at least mildly entertaining. That being said with this case...while it was clever in some ways, I seriously need to ask. Are the writers just bored? Like are they as bored as the viewers? Because that's what I'm getting from this. They wrote shadowman dying in wacky ways because it was more entertaining than trying to make another 22 minute murder mystery.

Episode 800: After That Hundred Million Yen
I have to say, I really like cases like this, kidnapping cases and the like. It's always fun to see the police carefully tracking someone and seeing how the culprit almost is sneaky enough to get away with it. And I like all the specific details of this one, especially a sugar bottle disguised as a real one. It makes for a fun, tense little story, even if they usually seem to have the exact same story at their core. That being said, this is not 800th episode worthy? Like, I dunno, I guess it isn't like every 100th episode has been some amazing case, but they could at least try. This was fine, but I want something really special for this. Though I guess as a 1 episode AO, it could be sooooo much worse.
Number of songs from 2007 soundtrack: 9(!!!)

I agree with slider on the recent episodes. At least they're entertaining (though not as much from the mystery).
There was that period of time when Gosho was not able to write much, so I guess that's why they're filling it with something that would be at least interesting to someone. There can only be so many murder plots that drags the Ran/Sonoko group or Detective Boys group into places that the Japanese audience can relate to. I'm hoping that this streak of AO can end soon.

I just got a sudden urge to see Heiji in the anime again... How much longer until the Kamaitachi case?

Kamaitachi air date hasn't been announced yet: some think it'll be on the 2nd half of January after the 2 specials.

Episode 801: The Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour (Kurayoshi Arc)
"To abandon you in the sand dunes!" Hahahaha what?! Kogoro just tied up Conan and THREW HIM off the dunes! That happened! Obviously he wasn't gonna actually leave him to die but still that's so weird.
Around 4:30...wow, never thought that bgm would return...
That girl is pretty crazy with the threats.
Well those sure were sand dunes...at the beginning...ok...

801's beginning was so ridiculous. What even is going on in this anime any more?

Re: Detective Conan Anime Discussion Thread (Latest Subbed Episode: 802)
I'm honestly sort of okay with a bunch of the AOs we've had since ep 790. Not sure why. They aren't good mysteries and most of them were super predictable, but they did have a bit of an entertainment factor to a certain degree and had dynamics that... I sometimes wish weren't so absent from the manga material.
Also I noticed we've had three culprits who had not a slight of regret, were super over the top, and while it was extremely ridiculous, I almost think the writers themselves didn't take it too seriously (especially the pretty boy from 798 who wanted to drop a stranger on this one dude because he wanted to make the girl who liked said dude sad after she turned him down. It's too ridiculous to not be self aware).

Episode 802: The Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour (Tottori Arc)
I'm such a nerd for loving that the music that was frequently used in the past for the recap is being used again for the recap.
To be fair, after all this time, ALL criminals should be terrified by Kogoro. His record for solving cases is beyond crazy.
So when I saw "20th century pear memorial" and immediately assumed it was some legit place of importance that just had an amusing name. But...then they show a pear tree from the 20th century. ...sorry for assuming the world isn't stupid I guess.
I always appreciate when Ran and especially Kogoro actually listen to Conan and they work together like it's no big deal. Which it shouldn't be after this long.
This existed. I guess it's kinda interesting the plan she was doing but it was fairly obvious in enough ways. Eh...

Episode 803: The Pitfall of Fire Precautions
Ayumi, you're seven. Nostalgia should not really even be a thing for you...
This case was fine. I feel like while it was slightly less goofy, most of what I've said the past 2 months applies here, I don't know what to say at this point. Arson case because swing sets, lulz.
