That's because it did, . Time is consistent in the DBZ universe unlike the DC universe. So it's not the episodes you should be counting. Vegeta landed on earth when Gohan was a young child(around 6) but only fully turned good around Gohan's young teenage years(around 12). That's about 5 years after subtracting the one year lost in the chamber(though you can argue that we should be adding a year since Vegeta spent two in the chamber himself).

Not a Dragon Ball Z expert but didn't it take him ALL the way till the end of the Cell saga to actually become fully good?
As for Ai, Akai giving her the choice to kill him to make amends would be the ultimate test. Of course it wouldn't be a "happy" scene, I would assume she would think about it even if it's only for a minute. Remember Akemi(as far as we know) is all she had and Rye, a B.O. member took that away(or at least is claiming he did).
I think it would give Ai a test, but looking at how Gosho is forming Ai's character, I can't see her killing anyone. I can see it being close....but not so close considering the type of anime it is.

Akai loves Akemi, there's nothing changing that.
I won't disagree that Akai loves Akemi, but Akai and Jodie's relationship is definitely comedy. I like funny couples so there is no way I'll say no. We wouldn't have Sato and Takagi where they were today if Sato didn't decide to move on after Matsuda's death.
I think when Haibara meets Akai, chances are she might have guessed who he was hiding as. I don't think that Akai will show Ai the the text message, unless the text message is something like "tell Shiho I love her." (I'm leaning towards "protect Shiho" myself...) I think Shiho will be angry at him, but it will probably be tempered by the fact that she knows Akemi really loved Moroboshi Dai. If Shiho realizes that Akai genuinely reciprocated then she will probably not be angry with him as much. I think Akai probably expects Shiho to hate him, but I think Shiho will surprise him with her maturity and understanding. I think the reunion between Sherry and Rye will be more about grief and guilty feelings that they couldn't protect Akemi than anger at each other although there may be an element of that. The real target of their anger will be the Organization that put them in their personal hells, and they will renew their vows to erase it from the earth. (Geez I'm corny today...)
Edit: In a way, Akai is a little immature for not wanting to face Shiho, but I can understand why. Although I can't see Shiho liking Akai in a relationship way, I could see the two being friends who understand eachother's feelings - they'd make good phone buddies. Maybe Akai will encourage Shiho to express her feelings to Shinichi since he has been around the two awhile and may have noticed how Shiho feels about Conan? That would be a funny situation, but I'd doubt she would do it.
Yeah...Akai/Ai....I can't see it. Mainly because they only have one thing tying them....both of their love for Akemi who has died. Personally, Ai probably wouldn't feel right dating her late sister's boyfriend. What sister would want Rye to get rid of the memory of their sister just so they can end up together? Yeah, I'm with you on the friend idea.
I don't think she was actually in love with him but instead saw him as someone special that gave up his life to save many. Which is why she kept his text, as something to reminder her to never forget but again this is Gosho's world we are talking about..so I guess she could of loved him.
Yeah...in Gosho's world admiration and love seem to be the same thing....

hmm,i don't think that AkaixJodie relationship is really comedy,but since they have a past together and she seems to like him a lot,then in DC's wold that mean they will be together...
anyway,i agree with you,Akai and Shiho could be friends,or at least having a brother-sister relationship,but nothing more,because Shiho has a lot of respect for her sister to do that(even if i wouldn't mind to see them together)...

I guess it's all depended on how Akai tells the story(I think he would tell it with a lot of self-blame) and if Shiho actually believes that Akemi would be alive if it wasn't for Akai. Shiho would kill Gin if she had the chance I believe, so why wouldn't she kill Akai if he told her that it was his fault and gave her the opportunity. After all, she only knows him as Rye(another spawn of the evil organization), nothing more from what we know.

He already is...no...he was from the start! Or you didn't notice how he kicked a globe at an old man at the first file? The police could chase after the old man and catch him easilly, but noooo...Shinichi HAD to kick that globe at him, even though it could have severly injured him.

You know, like every time Conan comes over to Agasa's to see Ai, Akai would be walking around the house(he helps Agasa with his inventions) always having his Gin smile and stare fixed on Conan. While commenting how his favorite shotgun has been accidentally discharging recently......
