Re: Mafia Round 58: Professor Layton and the Immortal Gem [Night 9]
"I say again, you should just give up."
Descole crossed his arms, his mouth forming a thin line as he spoke.
"And the thief you've been interested in seems to agree. There are much less people now, so it may be possible to convince them to stop this time."
The Professor closed his eyes and put a hand to his chin in thought. This needed to be decided once and for all, now. Do they continue to look for the jewel that some mysterious person asked them to find, knowing that doing so might result in more attacks. Or do they return to London and leave it to the criminal that was likely already involved...
"I'll.... speak with the others in the morning. I don't want to force them to leave, if they don't wish to."
"Leave?"
The two men turned at the sudden voice. Luke and Flora approached, both with worried expressions.
"Are you going somewhere, Professor?"
"I..." Layton blinked and paused for a moment. Then, he gave a soft smile, "I'm not going to go anywhere. Not if everyone else wants to stay."
Descole frowned, but said nothing. He knew the Professor meant what he said. The man would stay and try his best if anyone else was put at risk.
How truly....
A kind smile spread across his face, despite his efforts to hide it.
Foolish...
He watched the others for a few minutes before silently turning away and leaving them be.
There was one last thing he had to check before the question of whether or not to continue the search was put towards those remaining.
Summary: No one was killed

Since when do you not listen to reason?!

A true gentleman should know his limits.

Job? More like a fool's errand. You and I both know perfectly well the danger it carries.
~o~
Oh? So you'd be willing to put the people around you in danger? Because unlike myself and that thief, you don't have a mask to hide behind. And they will exploit that.
~o~
It's not as though they'll be allowed to find the gem just because you stop looking. He already said he'd take care of it. If you want to be such a gentleman, then you wouldn't want steal someone else's job.
~o~
Ah, yes, that mysterious 'concerned' person who put everyone else at risk in the first place. I'm sure their request completely justifies continuing.

I- I was thinking no such thing! It was purely a riddle. There weren't any specific reasons behind that one being given.

It could be they all died too, and the police didn't find their corpses yet. All, but you.Luke wrote:Things got so quiet in here..

Indeed we are. Though, for how much longer, I wonder...
Anyway, if you people are so bored, I'm sure Layton has another puzzle or riddle to occupy yourselves with.

Of course you can, Angela.
If people really do want another puzzle, I'm sure I can oblige.

What limits are you referring to? I am just doing my job.
~o~
We do not just back away because something could be dangerous.
~o~
Will I be not putting more danger to the people around me if I don't do anything? And that's no reason one should hide behind a mask.
~o~
I am not forgetting that someone did ask for my help in a letter, so I am not really stealing anyone else's job.
