What do I know about Argentina? hmm...one word? telenovela.
Yeah...in Israel we had (and still have) a bunch of telenovelas every once in awhile which are usually a hit. I admit that when I was in elementary school, I watched Chiquititas.

from wiki:
In 2000, the show started airing in Israel, where Argentine soaps are popular, and soon became extremely popular. The success of the show was so big, in 2002 members of the cast visited Tel Aviv for promotion and to meet fans.
(note though that the show started to air much earlier than 2000 and wiki is wrong here)

But that's it for me. What do I know then? Not much. What do I think? That telenovelas in Argentina is like what anime/manga is in Japan, in almost every subject - the repeating music which later turns into an album, the actors who become idols, etc...and that Argentina has an odd view for what an orphanage is like.

btw, the current hit in Israel (I really don't understand why people like these type of shows and why there are so many fans) is Casi Ã

I could swear that Chiquititas was from mexico  :o

It was a big hit here in Brazil too, but nowadays we have no more argentinian novels or whatever going on.
Nobody got no bizness like we do!

conia wrote: Didn't know that... And I can tell you why Casi Angeles(I don't watch it AT ALL) has so many fans: just because the characters are hot, sexy, or any other similar word. I hate it for that! They have ruined that show like a thousand times with the insane plot twist they make, but still people watch it  :(
Well, you know what they say. Bad taste is bad.  ;D

Totally missed that  :o
We also love him, he was part of the team that won the Gold Medal in the 2004 Olympics.
