[Theory] My thoughts about Anokata and Vermouth

I kind of like the theory where atsuchi is anokata
but there is a problem which is vermouth seems to hate shiho parents, and why would atsuchi like vermouth

vermouth cannot be Elena, in the tapes she is a caring mother, why would she try to kill haibara then
also, vermouth has a love relationship with gin
Atsuchi as the boss wont approve that, and Elena wouldn't cheat on her husband which is the boss, if theories were right !

She was going to die sooner or later, supposedly. But anyway, I do think Bourbon knows Anokata, since in order to get an approval of disguising as Akai without Gin's knowledge, who's considered a high ranking, you must be special, ofc, the approval could have been given to Vermouth instead.

Yeah, I was thinking the approval went to Vermouth since she's an important part of the plan anyway. And while I agree that Shiho was supposed to die soon, according to Bourbon's plans it seems like she was supposed to be interrogated or something of the sort before being killed, so she would possibly come in contact with other members of the organization that don't know whatever the secret is, and could reveal it to them. And we all know how much the BO likes their secrets . I guess it's also possible that Amuro would be doing the interrogation himself, but anything on that subject is really all just speculation.

I personally agree with kkuuddoo. I can't see Shiho's father ordering his own daughter's death, nor her mother agreeing to carry out the order. I also have trouble with the timing. As has been mentioned Sharon Vinyard had a life prior to 20 years ago training under Kuroba Toichi and being a successful actress. Sharon evidently had enough trouble balancing being an actress and a BO agent that she later "killed" her "Sharon" persona and has been focused mostly on her duties as "Vermouth". As far as we know "Chris" has never been as publicly active as "Sharon" was, probably for that self same reason. We also from Jodie's childhood that Vermouth was active and doing missions for the BO 20 years ago. Therefore it's unlikely Shiho's mother could have posed as a famous actress "Sharon Vinyard", done missions as "Vermouth", and kept up with her full-time work on project "Silver Bullet". It just doesn't add up for me.

Also there's the problem of the time period. Shiho claims to be 19 years old. This means that unless she was lying about her age that this theory puts her mother becoming Vermouth a full year before she was born. If this were the case there is no way Shiho should even exist let alone remember her parents at all. She also could not have been used as "Baby Chris" or she would know Vermouth is her mother. She obviously does not think any such thing or she wouldn't go all "BO Alarm" and become scared out of her wits around Vermouth.

interesting theory... but... vermouth can't never be elena. like one the member said about how old the character has been in this series, like she has histories with jodie, and conan's mother.
my little theory, if like you said, ai's father is anokata, vermouth probably is the love interest, and elena, might fake her death, and turn to a child like ai and conan, and became 'that little sister outside the domain' and get help from akai, and left her with his little sister, sera.

Interesting theory! I think I won't rule out Atsushi being Anokata - we don't know much about his personality or the extent of his madness so he may very well not care about his daughters at all / anymore. But I think there are too many inconsistencies with Elena being Vermouth. The person who left those tape recordings for Shiho just can't be the same person who is now all out trying to kill her (imo). Also as others have pointed out, there are timing issues because Vermouth couldn't have been doing so many things at once.

But what if Atsushi is the boss, Elena did die in the accident, and Vermouth became his new favourite? Possibly even because of their similarities in appearance. It may also help to explain Vermouth's hatred for Shiho, who is Elena's daughter.

Still does not explain Vermouth's comments about Shiho's parents though unless she is bluffing in a bid to conceal Anokata's identity.
