Pigs are definitely cute. Too bad people prefer them inside their belly.

Re: Controversial opinions
BK's actual contribution to the thread:
#1 - All the people I met/talked to that have watched Chronicle, with the exception of the person I went to the movies with, liked it. But I hated it. I hated every single minute of it, I had to laugh it off.
#2 - The Great Gatsby (book) was an utter bore. Probably the greatest American novel? Phooey. (I loved the recent movie adaptation, though.) I believe that the best literature are those meant for children, or at least disguised as.
#3 - I despise people who claim to be atheists but don't actually follow through it. I can get to a more thorough discussion about this but I'm sure it's already covered somewhere...
#4 - I hate environmentalists. Most of them are people who'd reprimand you if you throw a candy wrapper on the sidewalk but wouldn't clean trash off the streets themselves.
#5 - Love should be defined as rationally as possible before it can exist.
#6 - TIME TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE! Methinks. XD
I'll add more later. (Most previous posts I found rather agreeable, and while there are some that I do want to contend, I also find it unnecessary to revive the topics.)

Re: Controversial opinions
As much as I think that bats and pigs are cute too, I enjoyed reading the previous COs, so I'll be adding mine in exchange of the entertainment:
(1) Society has encouraged hypocrisy. I understand hypocrisy as an act of assuming a more acceptable personality than one's true character. In literature, oftentimes it is portrayed as having thousands of masks, which one uses in order to disguise one's true form. Society, evidently, dislikes the concept--it even tags the trait immoral. Society, however, is the main reason why hypocrisy is usually practiced, for its standards and rules. And how does it award the moral ones (i.e. non-hypocrites)? They shun them, because they're not cool. As a hypocrite, allow me to extend my admiration to my fellow hypocrites, for baring with irrationality.
(2) Beauty has a higher standing than intelligence. The intellectual has gained access to many of life's secrets. The beautiful has gained life. If given the opportunity tho choose between the two, I'll pick intelligence, but as you may have observed already, beauty has convenience on their side, as it doesn't require to be applied, it just require to be maintained.
(3) Lady Gaga is an artist. I find her choice of fashion, music, and style not weird at all. I see her as a walking masterpiece.
(4) Capitalists should learn from religious institutions. Religion started with 0, ended up with churches and minions. Capitalists started with a capital, ended up dead.
(5) Stereotypes has actually made life easier. Credits to the movie Up in the Air(2009) for introducing me this POV. I consider stereotypes as an essential part of everyone's database. They make the art of interaction as easy as making a paper crane(--perhaps, that really is not that easy to do, but it can be learned). I won't drop in any example, for certain stereotypes border on racism, and most people are still sensitive about it... but you do get me, right?

I'm assuming this means people who claim athiesm to be trendy but still, say, believe in heaven, hell and the afterlife, or continue to follow religious conventions. I could be wrong.Kor wrote:What do you mean - "not actually follow through it"?bluekaitou1412 wrote: #3 - I despise people who claim to be atheists but don't actually follow through it. The athiests that bug me are the ones who are as in-your-face about it as evangelical theists. I personally don't care what you believe, or don't, so long as you keep it to yourself and aren't forcing your beliefs or lack thereof on other people. It's equally annoying and rude to force your athiesm on someone who isn't interested as it is to force your religion.

I thought that's called being agnostic. Then again agnostic people think there is a a god , but don't know what shape or form it is.mangaluva wrote:I'm assuming this means people who claim athiesm to be trendy but still, say, believe in heaven, hell and the afterlife, or continue to follow religious conventions. Nope, that's not what agnosticism is about, it's rather a theistic (and, assuming you mean just one god, monotheistic) belief.Walnutdinosaur wrote:I thought that's called being agnostic. Agonsticism says that it is not known whether there is a god, and strong agnosticism further says that it cannot possibly be known, neither now nor at any point in the future or past. From that point onward, they can then embrace any additional positions - usually atheism (not believe in a god) or apatheism (god's existence is irrelevant), but possibly also theism (believe in a god anyway), as well as numerous others.
Therefore, there might be agnostics who believe there is a god, but anyone who claims there is a god is not agnostic (whether that possible god's shape is or isn't specified is irrelevant, as the god's existence itself isn't sure anyway - "It's not known whether there is a god" also means "It's not known whether there is a god who looks like an old man" or "It's not known whether there is a god that is all-powerful", as it denies that any god's existence is known).

Re: Controversial opinions
What manga said, especially the bit about "following religious conventions". Also, I know people who claim to be atheists YET worship the devil and people who claim to be atheists THEN say they hate God. I mean, what? Are you kidding me? -.-

My eighteenth contribution: The concept and propagation of deities is the result of equal parts class control, power consolidation, and a dissatisfaction with not knowing the origin of one's surroundings, eventually becoming imaginative and evolving, yet still largely baseless, summations of the world based on a given population's discoveries and environment at a given point in time.
