Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Please chill, conan-chandesune, and get off your "true fan" high horse. Stop acting like people don't have a right to having a different opinion from you because they haven't read as many of the comics as you have. Not everybody has the time and money to do that (I sure don't, which is among the reasons I like the movies; I get to see stories with characters that I like, but just don't have the time to spend hundreds of hours reading). You're overreacting and being rude to people, and it's really bringing down the tone of the thread. It's great that you've read a lot of comics and enjoy them, but there is no denying that you are being arrogant and overbearing about it.
Anyway, JD-, my personal favourite is First Class. I think it's really well-done. X-Men and X2 are both pretty good too. Wolverine and X3 have their moments, but aren't really great movies. That's just my two cents. Let us know what you think as you watch 'em, it'll be good chat to pass time until The Dark World comes out XD

I watched X2, I thought it was pretty average. On a side-note, I can't wait for the Guardians of the Galaxy (did I get the title right this time?)
I read a couple of comics, mostly at random. I think with all the info going 'round the internet, you can pretty much catch up. Just read a wiki or something.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
X3 is actually my favorite one. Then again, it's the first one I've seen out of the first three, so I might be biased. I do like the preceding two, though.
Wolverine I didn't like.
First Class was entertaining, but I didn't really like it that much. Toward the end they were really rushing with some stuff, and it caused continuity issues with the rest of the movies, so it was pretty jarring for me.

^Yeah, like that one time in X3 when Xavier with Magneto went to young Jean Grey's house, and the actor's Patrick Stewart and he can still walk. Then in First Class Xavier got crippled when he's still that younger actor from Wanted.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
First Class deliberately ignored X3 and Wolverine as continuity; the directors acknowledged that there were going to be discontinuities with the story they wanted to tell and the backstory presented in those movies. Given that those two are kind of the lesser two, though, I don't mind, especially since First Class is my favourite. The main thing that bothered me was Michael Fassbender not being able to keep a handle on his accent. He got really, extremely Irish towards the end for no particular reason. I do think James Mackelvoy and Michael Fassbender played off each other very well, though, and Jennifer Lawrence was great as Mystique.
I am also furious that Michael Fassbender in drag was relegated to deleted scenes D:<

I think Singer specifically mentioned he would correct this in an interview. It's possible, thru the events of UXM#167 or something similar. (Xavier's mind is transplanted in a clone of his body). This could put them ALL in continuity. Nice finish, it would be.bluekaitou1412 wrote:^Yeah, like that one time in X3 when Xavier with Magneto went to young Jean Grey's house, and the actor's Patrick Stewart and he can still walk. You are entitled to your own opinion. However, how long back did you watch it?? Cuz it is possible your opinion may change if you do a re-watch. Just try it. As for your second statement, reading the wiki and reading a comic are totally different. The data is same, sure, but if you read the synopsis of a movie, you wont get the same amount of entertainment/enjoyment from seeing the movie, will you? I encourage everyone to read comics, and now is a good time to start, due to both DC and Marvel re-launching the previous years.bluekaitou1412 wrote:I watched X2, I thought it was pretty average. Firstly, your opinion and my opinion match EXACTLY. Take note of that. Secondly, i never said i was a "true fan". It's hard to describe a "tru fan". I simply said i was very very knowledgeable fan in the subject of comics, which is a fact. I guess my attitude could use just a bit of adjustment (:P) But i really didnt start the shit-fest. I simply ended it with facts. If you read my first post again, i am quite polite and simply state facts and their possible implications in the correct tenses, yet GinRei has to try to be over-smart and correct me, where there was no correction to be made. The reasons behind my statement are again obvious and stated in the following two posts. I state facts. I'll try to improve my method and tone of statement. I did not mean to bring down the tone of the thread. Sorry for that. I am not on a "high horse". Also, rude to people is wrong. I only, was, just very slightly, rude to GinRei, i must admit. Also, i said above to bluekaitou, before even reading your post, that You are entitled to your own opinion.. So, there. I think we are all equals, comic book readers and enthusiastic movie watchers. But, I am proud of knowing such a boat-load of facts and stories of the comics.mangaluva wrote:Please chill, conan-chandesune, and get off your "true fan" high horse. Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
I say the next thing we reboot is this conversation and leave all that at that. Not sure it's a discussion that's actually adding anything to anything, so, yeeeaaaah.
Now, the last one I watched was Wolverine. I thought the first 30-35 minutes of that were a lot of fun for what it was. But... that third act had to be one of the biggest messes I've ever seen. It was a right and true bit of aimlessness that I have tried to suppress in my memory but have found myself unable to do so. Only medical intervention can save me at this point.
I've yet to watch First Class, but I'm looking forward to it. The fact that there are about to be SEVEN X-Men films to date is kind of insane, and something I didn't realize until just the other day. I'm glad that they're (apparently) attempting to consolidate First Class with the other movies in Days of Future Past. Will be nice to see so many mutants in one movie, all Avengers-like.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Random question: where in the X-Men timeline (as far as the movies are concerned) will the new Wolverine movie fit (also, disregarding continuity issues)? I saw the trailer for it for the first time tonight while going to see The Fast and the Furious 6, and I was a bit confused.
3DS FC: 4699-5851-2068
I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

It's supposed to be after X3 (at least according to wiki). It also said Jean's actress will reprise her role and make an appearance (probably not an actual appearance, but maybe in a flashback or a dream, etc.)Commi-Ninja wrote:Random question: where in the X-Men timeline (as far as the movies are concerned) will the new Wolverine movie fit (also, disregarding continuity issues)? The dream part is correct. It will be the opening scene of the film. Logan will remember the events of the end of X3, albeit in a thematical manner.Kor wrote:It's supposed to be after X3 (at least according to wiki). Also, last night Joss Whedon gave an interview in which he said casting calls for Avengers 2 were underway. Which means that the two cinematic universes will osorakun stay separate. Maybe Joss hasn't got the news, but that is highly unlikely. There's a lot of time left, though.

Re: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Ugh, please no. They really need to just pretend those movies don't exist (X3 and the first Wolverine movie). Maybe if it's just her surrounded by fire calling his name it'll be okay, but otherwise... bleh. It'd be like those rumors of a Venom movie based on the first Spiderman Trilogy, but tying into the new trilogy.Conan-chandesune wrote:The dream part is correct. What? Especially the bold.Which means that the two cinematic universes will osorakun stay separate.
Doubtful. His current self's actor burned too many bridges during X3 (and is dead, in continuity), and he wasn't included in Origins. Your only hope is that they bring him in from Wolverine Origins, but that was so bad that they may just ignore it.bluekaitou1412 wrote:Seven?! I sure hope there'll be more of Scott Summers. >_<

Pretty sure chandesune was trying to write a romanized japanese word (he has the tendency of doing that). If that was his intention, he kinda failed.GinRei wrote:What? Especially the bold.Conan-chandesune wrote:Which means that the two cinematic universes will osorakun stay separate.

Pft. Wasted a good character. Wolverine is like, too overused now. -_-GinRei wrote:Doubtful.
