My favorite AOs : 140 225 373 376 403-404 423 426 486 518-519 577
669-670 started good, Haibara was gone very good, and then it went down hill! I mean it was a little unclear and boring the way everybody was rescued!

I just finished 669-70 I liked most of it until the end
698 I liked because of Takagi, other than that, it was pretty boring.

Re: AO Hell: The Discussion Thread
I honestly hope someday they take the ironic "it's like these 2 aren't kids at all!" jokes to Family Guy lengths. Just have a 5 minute scene entirely about that one joke.
Ok, I understand pratically all the cases do this but 6 minutes in and my only response is:

And then Mitsuhiko trips multiple times within seconds. The whole episode was automatically worth it.
"But there's something weird about this bed." You mean more than usual?
Well that case sure had ice and it also existed and

Re: AO Hell: The Discussion Thread
Does anyone have any thoughts on the two newest AOs: Girl's Window and the UFO Crash?
Girl's Window: I give it a 65/100, mainly because I like the girl's VA. It's definitely better than 696 (mainly because 696 is wayyyyy too obvious), but I think Roses in the Vineyard is better, since the case was more interesting overall. However, I do like the Girl's Window 'looked like a suicide with two witnesses but in the end it was murder' approach, but I think it's kind of sad how the girl died.
UFO Crash: 20/100. Barely better than the Sumida River 2-Parter and the Old Sweets one. The 'UFO mystery' gets dissolved within the first 10 minutes and it's totally unrelated with the 'No Way' part of the title. It should just be the 'UFO Crash Mystery' or something. Anyways, the 20-something minutes was so horrible that I couldn't bear with it, because this is one of these situations when I think Conan gets 'dumbed down'.
As a what-the-heck, going to review all the AOs since 693.
Sumida River [Part One and Two]: 15/100. While it's a lot better than other AO cases like the missing sweets and the UFO Crash, I really disliked how it is spreaded out over two parts and the murder part only starts at Part 2. The only good thing I can say is Ran/Conan searching in Kogoro's book, I thought it was pretty cute, but then I find it a bit forced.
Missing Japanese Sweet: 10/100. Easily the worst AO for me. No case happened and it was just some chocolates being stolen. I mean, seriously? The only think I liked about it was Ran raging and beating up Kogoro.
Roses in the Vineyard: 70/100. Yay for not related at all Vermouth's old name. It's great in AO standards and decent-good in manga standards. The evidences (especially all the scientific mumbo-jumbo) were quite intriguing and I found it intriguing on how the culprit crafted the alibi. Extra pluses go to Ran getting angry.
Stormy Flowerbed Conspiracy: 55/100. It could've been a good case if there were more than two suspects, with one being painfully obvious that the person is not the suspect.
That's all.
Girl's Window: I give it a 65/100, mainly because I like the girl's VA. FYI, 694 (Missing japanese sweet) is actually the 7th magic file which is why it stands out from the rest as something very light-hearted and with over the top humor. ^^

I genuinely loved the 4th and 5th magic files because of this.

Girl's Window: Since the client is Ran and Sonoko's middle school classmate, it will be much better if Ran called Shinichi to solve a caseOsaka Detective wrote:Does anyone have any thoughts on the two newest AOs: Girl's Window and the UFO Crash?

Missing Japanese Sweet: Do you mean you don't like any episode with no case including Episode 460, 474, 624.
UFO Crash: At least the title not much as deceivable as Episode 433 Conan, The Strange Child. When you see this title for a first time, do you think this AO is about Conan's true identify being suspected?

All I'm going to say about "Missing Japanese Sweets" is that it proves Ayanokouji-keibu is an elf.

A translation, unfortunately, can't do justice to コナン変な子 "Conan hen na ko" - as palindromes (in this case, こなんへんなこ) don't translate very well. Even a romanization loses this somewhat.

Re: AO Hell: The Discussion Thread
I decided to watch the UFO crash case. I'm only 5 minutes in but I liked the scene where the detective boys bother Takagi until he gives in and tells them the case details. It reminds me how manga cases are usually too rushed because Gosho only gets 16 pages per chapter. Manga Takagi, outside his love cases, basically exists to allow Conan and the detective boys to move freely about the scene with minimal resistance. On the other hand, this sort of anime characterization where Takagi puts up a fight because he knows Megure is going to yell at him feels truer Takagi's character. It's nice when an AO adds flavor and character depth.

Re: AO Hell: The Discussion Thread
oh...yay.
Well Takagi is the apparent focus so it might be fun...
24 minutes later:
Well I'm bored now. Ugh, what a waste of time. It had some interesting ideas I suppose but it was done in the most dull way possible.

Girl's Window: True, true. But wasn't it the girl that wanted to see Kogoro?Conan 48:69 wrote:Girl's Window: Since the client is Ran and Sonoko's middle school classmate, it will be much better if Ran called Shinichi to solve a caseOsaka Detective wrote:Does anyone have any thoughts on the two newest AOs: Girl's Window and the UFO Crash?

Missing Sweets:
460 and 624 are episodes that give two respective characters background info and details. I thought 474 was pretty stupid but then I like the cat, so yeah
UFO Crash:
The episode was about the backward thing.Konan hen na ko. But tehre wasn't much else to name it. The backward word mystery? The alibi crafting case? I find the naming pretty interesting. Unlike Conan, The Strange Child, the mystery about the 'ufo crash' was partially solved and the no way was just to make the episode sound a bit more interesting.
Anyways, I just rewatched the candy house episode.Thought it was pretty interesting.
