I don't really see this as being that weird, even though I've never heard of it myself I don't think it's that surprising. Plenty of things benefit from the understanding you can gain from explaining it in detail to another person, even if that other person isn't even a person at all.

Indeed, but what I find as weird is that a lot of people use rubber ducks. I wouldn't be shocked if there is a thing such as "Random-Object debugging", but for people explain their code to the same object is weird for me.
