Re: Detective Conan Movie 17: "Private Eye in the Distant Sea" (2013)
Movie 17 was first for the week-end box-office and for the golden-week weekly box office :
http://www.kogyotsushin.com/archives/weekly/
No figures yet, but I have some for IM3 who's gross went from ¥533,040,000 by the 28th of april to ¥1,742,410,000 by the 5th of may. That's a ¥1,209,370,000 gross. I think DC should probably have a gross around 250-300 million superior to IM3's so that would put it at ¥1,381,188,256 plus ¥1,509,370,000 after 16 days in release. Who knows, maybe it managed to pass the 3 billion yen mark.
No big releases coming in may this year. Another week on top is secured and it could even go for 5 weeks on top. Movie 13's record gross should fall in the upcoming weeks, and hopefully with good legs it can push past 4 billion yen.
edit : DC movie 17 surpasses 2 million admissions and 2.5 billion yen in its 3rd week-end :

Update :
Pokemon and Doraemon see more admissions every year compared to Conan but average ticket price is inferior because both of these franchise have more kids coming to see them proportionally (and Pokemon also has a lot of tickets available for a cheaper price months in advance).
With Lupin vs Conan coming up, the franchise could pass the 50 billion yen mark, as I mentioned previously, and also the 40 million admissions mark by early 2014.

¥4 billion will be very tough...the movie is going to slow down massively from now on.

Feels like the recent themes aren't anywhere near as good as the classic ones Movie 15's was dreadful, but 17's is a little better.

To be honest I loved the 15 movie's version, though I didn't enjoy the 12-14, 16-17 versions that much. All the previous ones are very enjoyable, some of them pretty unique while others quite epic (like the 9th movie's version, which resembles the 5th and 6th movies' versions).irishock wrote:Feels like the recent themes aren't anywhere near as good as the classic ones Movie 15's was dreadful, but 17's is a little better.

Re: Detective Conan Movie 17: "Private Eye in the Distant Sea" (2013)
Massive drop. 4 billion is out of the question now. Hopefully the to date total makes up for the drop.Weekend Estimates (5/11-12)
1 (-) Phone Call to the Bar 2 (Toei) ¥152 million ($1.5 million) DEBUT! [305 theaters]
2 (1) Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea (Toho) ¥136 million ($1.4 million), -68%, Week 4
3 (-) Prefecture Government's Hospitality Division (Toho) ¥129 million ($1.3 million) DEBUT [291 theaters]
4 (2) Iron Man 3 (Disney) ¥125 million ($1.3 million), -65%, Week 3
5 (3) Library Wars (Toho) ¥89 million ($890,000), -60%, Week 3
6 (4) Shield of Straw (Warner Bros.) ¥83 million ($830,000), -61% Week 3
7 (6) Kamen Rider X Super Sentai X Space Sherriff (Toei) ¥71 million ($710,000), -48%, Week 3
8 (5) Crayon Shin-chan: Gourmet Survival Class (Toho) ¥58 million ($580,000), -61%, Week 4
9 (9) Lincoln (Disney) ¥31 million ($310,000), -61%, Week 4
10 (8) Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (Toei) ¥19 million ($190,000), -77%, Week 7
Yikes. It's been awhile since two of the Golden Week holidays fell on both Saturday and Sunday, and the effect of that happening last week can been seen with these weekend massive drops.
Estimates are still very close so a 4th weekend on top is not yet out of the question. We'll see.

Speaking of which, when does Movie 18's trailer usually come out? Like not the 90s one but the really short one.
