1. Harry Potter :: ¥96.57 billion [8]
2. Pokemon :: ¥68.48 billion [15]
3. Doraemon :: ¥67.74 billion [32] 4. Detective Conan :: ¥41.34 billion [16]
5. Star Wars :: ¥40.04 billion [6]
6. Pirates of the Caribbean :: ¥36.59 billion [4]
7. Bayside Shakedown :: ¥34.76 billion [3]
8. Jurassic Park :: ¥27.48 billion [3]
9. The Lord of the Rings :: ¥27.29 billion [3]
10. The Matrix :: ¥26.40 billion [3]
11. Umizaru :: ¥25.38 billion [4]
Hopefully with this year's movie the franchise can cross the 45 billion mark. And I'm going to be crazy and hope the Lupin vs Conan movie can help it achieve the 50 billion mark by early 2014.

Lol, very irritated how pokemon is so popular! I have seen some little stuff on TV, and I hate it (or am I missing something?)! Very glad for DC though, never thought the movies were so known.
Pokemon's popularity has declined. Its first movies made around 6 to 7 billion yen. A few years ago, it was still at 4.5-5 billion yen almost every year. We'll see how it does this year but last year's movie was beaten by Doraemon and was barely over DC in gross.

Saw lol on the spoilercbox post this
According to Kōgyō Tsūshinsha, Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea held its #1 spot during its second week at the box office. The film has earned 1.5 billion yen (about US$15 million) at the box office and sold one million tickets in 10 days.
The film film opened on April 20 in Japan in the #1 spot at the box office. The 17th Detective Conan film opening weekend was 106.6% higher than last year's film, Detective Conan: The Eleventh Striker, earned on its way to an eventual final total of 3.29 billion yen (US$35.4 million).

Off-topic: well the next movie is going to have Ashs overrated Charizard in it. Right now Pokemon is just doing a fan service arc. So I don't expect the next movie to be that low in ratings, but yeah, Pokemon movies have gotten so much worse over the past 3~4 years.
Back on topic, since I'm still not familiar with people subbing movies. When does the DVDs usually come out and when do we usually get a really good sub (eg lip sync)? Is DCTP still subbing movie 17 btw?

The DVD usually comes out in October/November (not sure which one). DCTP isn't subbing movie 17, but Hubuki subs say that they're going to sub movie 17.
DVDs usually are out for rental purpose in mid October. The actual one for sale comes later in November (I think?) I heard a fansub group named Lucariopk announced to take care of Movie 17, too. However after DCTP, Puto and M-L Project seem to provide the most reliable translation, so I really hope they'll have a look into this It'll be a great-great-great relief. I'm hungry for the movie but I'll wait for whatever it takes to get a hold of a good release.
