http://24.img.v4.skyrock.net/6420/86256 ... zRLe1X.jpg
the chúi ( 錘 in traditional chinese, 锤 i simplified chinese) is an ancient melee weapon
Can anyone tell me more info about it? like the date it was used, how much it weighed or what it is made of?
The wikipedia page isn't very complete

Re: Ancient Chinese weapon: need help
Currently doing my best to find stuff about this beyond basics: Chui comes from a name that's common among Tang dynasty officials, the mac is about 1.5 feet with a 1.3 inch bronze head, and Shampoo from Ranma 1/2 had a very beach ball-ish pair. So while you wait, please enjoy this video of a monkey man fighting a drunkard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHsxFkgqYJs
EDIT:
Okay, the first image of the thing in the hands of a soldier comes from the stone guardian which is supposed to be standard Ming Dynasty get-up.
This puts it at around 1400-1600 because the picture is from Beijing (but it's a mace, hard to call when it was first used). Given that he's carrying it with a jian implies it served a similar function to the Bardoukian mace [which is seen here in the middle]. And it's hard to get a lock of mace weight since any mace has several different lengths and heads but it's probably as heavy as the bardoukion (that is to say, heavy). They also had a version that tied two of them together for w/e reason.
So, hopefully some of this is useful. What do you need it for?

Re: Ancient Chinese weapon: need help
that´s easy its just a standard Mace
normally used with one hand (and a shield in the other)
good against heavy armor and helmets
its a cheap and easy weapon so its perfect for fighters with a low budget

I cannot point to my ancestors, but I can show medals and other military honors to say nothing of the scars on my body - all of them in front. These are my title of nobility.

Re: Ancient Chinese weapon: need help
I'm preeeeeetty sure everyone here knows it's a mace. But just saying "it's a mace" is like seeing someone post a picture of a gladius, going "oh that's a sword, you can see more here" and linking to a picture of a katana.svon1 wrote: that´s easy its just a standard Mace

Re: Ancient Chinese weapon: need help
swords spears and axes have many different designs and ways to use them but a mace
just have one attack
the directly punch
the may look a little different but the way to use them is the same
like i told ya
the mace in one hand and if ya a smart then ya have shield in the other
so you can strike with the mace block with the shield and ya are protected against arrows
its different with swords for example
the katana is a 1-inched longsword
so its a defense cutting weapon
while the gladius is a double-inched short sword
its an aggressive stabbing weapon
the cavalry saber on the other hand is a scimitar
made for fighting from horseback
and their are also special swords like the Sica

or the falcata
