That's what I meant by, the Sacred Band was specially selected male couples. Designed so that the pairs would be very in tune, and make sure their partner made it,

There were also ideals about courage, weren't there? They believed that men would be braver in front of their lover and less likely to run away.

That's a cool idea, but... you don't see that nowadays.

Yes, there were a number of reasons. The main reason of their talent was just that every soldier was hand picked.

Rashidun: the first Islamic army after Mohammad's death. Lead most famously by a Caliph who was nick named "The Sword of Allah".

North and South Korea

north korea is preparing for the 2nd korean war

possible war running
my prognosis

North Korea has a total number of 9,495,000 active, reserve, and paramilitary personnel
but the nation has just 24,5 million people living in it so its like the chinese women army alot of uniforms and no guns

the real army of north korea can bring up to 1,5 million soldiers i would say

south korea has 50 million people
and can bring up to 3 million soldiers in my mind

the north uses ak-47AK´s
and old soviet tanks and soviet airforce from the 60s and 70s
china will not help them cause they know its a lost game
(they already haded bad experiences last time)

the south has M16A´s and high tech tanks and airforce
+ an US Carrier and 25.000US-soldier

Image

north korae will start bombing the blue marked areas
while the southern airforce (dark red line) try to bomb their artillery away
at the same time the southern infantry will  charge with air support (the big red line)
and some special forces will use the time to flank them (thin red line)

i think so around
north korean army 1,1-1,3 million dead and wounded
south korean army between 125.000-180.000 dead and wounded
US army 2000-5000 dead and wounded

civilian casualties (from bombardments )
30-50.000
civilian  casualties (from northkorean army)
200-300.000

what do ya think is this realistic or not ?
